That's true enough . The thin blue line has never been thinner. Sorry for your loss BigRon. I hope you get those rings back . My mum lost her wedding ring a few years ago and was distraught . It's not only the value of the rings but the sentimentality which could be priceless.

Blimey they turned up? I am amazed.
Mind you if they found their fingerprints on a draw it will prove nothing.
It just means they touched the draw, no evidence of theft.
Put everything in a safe place next time.
Do not trust anyone you donโ€™t know very well.
I had a tradesman in for two days this week, I hid everything of value away.

BIGRON wrote: โ†‘Wed Jul 14, 2021 11:39 am Had the council decorators in yesterday to repair some flood damage in the bedroom and kitchen , 2 Romanian guys who worked had and did a good job , alas after they had left the wife found that her small ring box from the bedroom draw is missing , this box has been in the same draw for many years and the only time the wife goes to the box is when we maybe go out for a meal or a show and she swaps her rings over , in the box was her engagement ring , her eternity ring and a signet ring her parents bought her when she was a teenager , these rings ain't worth a fortune but are irreplaceable and shes had them years and is in tears over it , unfortunately we are not insured , we have reported it th the workers company and the council , we are are now going to the local nick to report it , I even gave the guys 20 quid each for doing a great job โ˜นโ˜นโ˜น

Few weeks ago friend mine had a house clearance firm clean out her momโ€™s house before sale and deliver some furniture to her own home. Used firm before, Polish. On this occasion some Romanians were employed by them. When her back was turned she had a jewellery box and 30k Cartier watch nicked. Discovered few days later. We complained to the Polish boss who got the watch back within 24 hours but the rest had been sold on.

Final update , the police phoned today and as expected have no forensic evidence to go on , they will no longer persue the case as nothing can be proved . They also advised me not to persue it personally with the people involved as this could have repercussions against me ( correct still wrong ๐Ÿ‘ ) , just have to put it down as a loss โ˜น

Thank you all for the kind words ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Ron, get the local press involved. Your Council won't like the negative publicity.

Unfortunately Ron that is the best course of action.
Treat it as a lesson learned and hide everything away when strangers enter your home in the future.
Trust no one.
