I will be shocked if Labour hold Batley and Spen .
Most Muslim voters will not vote Labour, because they say Starmer is too pro Israel. Without those votes, Labour are struggling.
Personally I hope Labour lose the seat, and Starmer steps down, though I'm not overjoyed by any of the likely candidates that might replace him.
A totally corrupt government, and a useless opposition... What a mess this countries in.

Labour are just helping the tories, they can't decide between a more central (new labour) party to try and a left leaning Corbyn party that won't win power anyway.

Last day of campaigning in Batley and Spen where important local issues such as Kashmir, Palestine, and the Muslim/Hindu divide have been to the fore.

If Labour lose tomorrow will it be a new Dawn for them? 40% of Labour members want Sir Kier out if they do.

George Galloway never fails to amuse in his interviews.

Does that mean 60% want him in?

So how much are Labour gonna lose Batley and Spen by?

And how many minutes past the count will it take for Owen Jones to call for Starmer to resign?

The Labour leader who should have resigned, but didn't, was anti-semite Corbyn who lead the party to its biggest defeat in 84 years in 2019. He retained the support of the party apparatchiks but failed to win over the electorate. Oops! Bit of an oversight in a free and fair election. The question then as now remains: do Labour supporters want a Leader who will reflect their hard left positions (Foot, Corbyn) or a centrist who will get them elected at a GE. Because they can't have both.

Well The last time Members were asked the centrist got 59% (70% with Nandy added) and the left candidate got 29% 🤷🏻‍♂️

That started the day after the leadership result was announced

The left have never accepted Starmer being democratically elected by a huge majority of members

This^
Corbyn didn't accept responsibility for the overwhelming GE defeat - "We won the argument"
or the findings of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission that the Labour Party under his leadership had been "responsible for unlawful acts of harassment and discrimination" i.e. antisemitism. Last I heard he was suing Labour over settling the court case arising.

When Starmer was campaigning for the position of leader, he stated that his policy manifesto would be like the one so popular under Corbyn's leadership. He abandoned it as soon as he was elected. Call that 'honest'?

Poor Starmer, now he doesn't seem to know at all what he should be claiming to stand for.

I don't have a dog in this race but we can all agree Starmer lied to win his majority.

I have an offspring who voted for him and is totally gutted with his lies. I did tell him not to vote for him for all the reasons that are now obvious.

Majority of just over 300 votes. A wins a win I suppose and for Starmer some much needed breathing space but again it’s reflective of the changing landscape. Perhaps Matt Hancock’s stunning CCTV performance went some way to swaying some wavering Labour voters back to the fold?

Regardless of your view of Sir Keef, this result is preferable to seeing some braying Tory tw*t claiming victory. Be grateful for small mercies.
