The strongest minded team will win this match , those determined , type who know where they want to be and what deckchair to throw their towel on.

Let's face it, if England do manage to win, it will be a turn-up. Glorious failure: we do it so well. "it's going home"

And Brexit will somehow get mentioned.

We're now in the knock out stages so it's pointless going safety first. Southgate must go attacking so I will be gobsmacked if Grealish and Saka don't start .

Don't bank on it. I can envisage one of the two, not both. Hope to be pleasantly surprised.

This is probably the most beatable German side EVER, but I still expect them to win

Southgate will continue with his ultra defensive safety first match plan, with two holding midfielders, and trying to absorb the German pressure, whilst hoping for a breakaway goal or a set piece goal.

I see a boring match, with Germany winning 1 or 2 nil.

After the match Southgate will get a new three year contract!!!

If Germany attack us I can see us beating them on the counter. If we could win our route to the final is as easy as you could hope for.

Oh dear, you've gone and done The Thing. You know, The Thing whereby you start paying "what if" games in your head and plotting out a course for glory.

Just stop it. Stop it now.

Got a free £5 bet from Bet365, so have bet on Germany, penalties. I have a feeling an English player will be sent off. But, what do I know ?

Southgate said the "the breaks were not on" insisting England were attacking. This could be his idea of attacking?

People underestimate Southgate. He’s pragmatic and we will set out completely differently compared to the other games.

Always amused by the extreme "rivalry" the English give to a match v. Germany because it's quite a one-sided rivalry. For German football fans the Netherlands are the team they most want to defeat.

I think they are bought in too, which is also an under appreciated point. The amount of times we’ve had a good manager on paper who hasn’t got buy in meaning we don’t do well I.e sven, capello.

Heute Abend könnte Herr Southgate Gegenstand einer Entlassung sein.
