I can only hope that England have one terrific performance in them, otherwise it’s Goodnight Vienna. Perhaps the shackles will be released when they think they are underdogs.

Question: do certain Boarders (you know who you are!) still think that I am a “mug”, or even a “m£*g” for wanting Grealish in the team?

No. But it won't make any difference.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 9:32 am Question: do certain Boarders (you know who you are!) still think that I am a “mug”, or even a “m£*g” for wanting Grealish in the team?

Re: Clueless Southgate
England's biggest critics seem to be those of us who dont understand the way teams qualify for the knock out stages by the group/league system. I clearly remember England being written off in 1966 after the 0 0 opener with Uruguay

Re: Clueless Southgate
Another disappointing team by Southgate
Mings dropped, even though he was England's best player against Scotland in a defence that kept a clean sheet.
Foden dropped, but clown Stirling left in.????
Stirling must have something on Southgate, because however useless he is, he never gets dropped
The sooner Southgate goes the better

Re: Clueless Southgate
Kane is not getting enough service and he is still playing 2 inverted wingers that will cut in, Sancho would have been a good inclusion or move sterling to the right to allow saka.
Hopefully he can replicate the scotland game and get 2nd and a easier draw with poor tactics.

Re: Clueless Southgate
We don't want a draw as that will put us in the same half of the draw as Italy, Belgium, and France. Admittedly if we win, we might have a tough next match, but we will be in the much easier half of the draw.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 7:40 pm We want a draw because of the options in the next round

Shame there was no comment when Stirling missed a sitter, I would have scored.

Re: Clueless Southgate
Sterling is incredibly consistent for England. His numbers since 2018 have been fantastic, fully warrants his place in the team.

You mean the player who has scored all England's goals at the tournament?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 8:54 pmMoron...I knew they'd be a comment from you.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 8:15 pmComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 7:12 pm Another disappointing team by Southgate

Re: Clueless Southgate
Another predictable, negative and boring display for most of the game.
We will be punished by any top level team.
Personally I woudnt watch England if I was given a free premium ticket and a chauffeur driven car there and back.

We weren’t playing a top level team though.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 9:57 pm Another predictable, negative and boring display for most of the game.

Southgate adjusts our play depending on who we are playing and what’s at stake. He is very pragmatic.
Teams that attack us and allow space will play into our hands with the players we have.

Re: Clueless Southgate
Kane is a problem. His mobility is painful to watch and is at odds with the pace and movement around him, slowing everything down.
Suspect if it's Germany next round, it's gonna be pretty humiliating. France will be a more dignified 2-0 defeat that keeps Southgate in post.
