Gallen has made it pretty clear the training ground is his domain. Jackett will only be popping along to have a look around and show his face. Ling is done.

BTT - no, IMO. He's the eyes & ears for Nigel & Kent and the essential (to them) liaison between the football, commercial and daily financial management of the club. JE worked with him OK and I reckon KJ will. I can't see him going anywhere soon.

Wtf is this thread about - usual bullying sh ite again.
Ling brought in KJ! Surely if Ling is required by the club then that is the owners decision alone. Either support T or T in this respect or fuc off.

Re: Are Lings days numbered?
My guess is Lings been offer the job of General manager with much changed responsibilities.
I also suspect this comes with a massive pay cut.
Might have to swallow his pride if nothing else is about.

All our days are numbered. We’re just sacks of perishable meat held together by a few bits of calcium.

I can understand why he would be hot potato if he has been in dark places historically. The club has a duty to care for staff so no way would chuck him out in the cold without a mentor or social worker package as bad for long and club. But if he ain’t good at job like any other in life gets sack. Courage of conviction comes to mind snd if jacket can’t work with Ling what is the point trying?

Re: Are Lings days numbered?
Ling is the eyes and ears of T & T. They cannot afford to allow KJ to build his own empire in Leyton unless they have an exec officer (naval term) looking over his shoulder and reporting back to them independently of KJ and his lieutenants. That exec is Ling.
T & T can change Ling's remit every day if they wish, change his title if they wish but the fundamentals remain. Ling is a pivotal character at Leyton Orient with great authority and will probably remain so. If not him, somebody else doing the same role.

As important as Stobart Air may be to their regional airports, I would not go so far as to say Aer Lingus days are numbered

Only a guess, but it might explain the delay in Jacketts appointment of his own assistant and no mention of Lings expiring contract.
I don’t see the need for him in the current role, but I suspect they can use him elsewhere but not on his current salary.

Looks some way overweight, which isn't indicative of someone who is looking after themselveso-no wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 8:20 am I hope I'm wrong but I thought in recent appearances he didn't look very well.
Add that to the palpable grumpiness at the press conference, the removal of the need to support son-of-DOF, and the apparent new broom touching everything (management, investors, ground etc) and this might be a good time for him to call it a day.
First and foremost, I hope the bloke is okay.
My belief, is that his contract Isn't going to be renewed..the role is beginning to look surplus to requirements, and I'd imagine the Fletcher, and to a lesser extent Embleton, fiascos, still resonate with the owners.
'May' be given a role/title change though, as a thank you for his efforts....

Good well thought out comment and we shall see what does evolve for Martin Ling. Perhaps Martin will be given a different sort of role in the club with less responsibilities.Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 9:36 amLooks some way overweight, which isn't indicative of someone who is looking after themselveso-no wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 8:20 am I hope I'm wrong but I thought in recent appearances he didn't look very well.

I think he’s more likely to be relieved to no longer have to talk about his son. Can’t have been an easy situation for either of themo-no wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 8:20 am I hope I'm wrong but I thought in recent appearances he didn't look very well.

I like to see him go with a decent pay offfor his own well being. Whatever you think of him and I’m not a fan of him, his son is his son and he does not deserve humiliation. Hope he leaves , going to new pastures and contributes to another team.o-no wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 8:20 am I hope I'm wrong but I thought in recent appearances he didn't look very well.
