I have no idea who Naomi Osaka is or if she's a goodie or baddie, however I do enjoy watching the media lose its collective sh*t just because somebody won't talk banal bollocks to them.
I have no idea who she is either but from her name and the comments so far, I’m assuming she’s 1) a woman 2) non-white and 3) successful.
Read more about it. She is suffering from mental health issues, part of which is around these media interviews. I support her 100%
Had a fair bit of sympathy for her......until I read she took to social media to explain her position.
Yeah, because posting a statement on twitter is exactly the same as fronting a media conference.
I'm pretty sure that all of her social media outlets relate to her business activity - tennis. In the 21st century its just not that simple to pick and choose what media you do - especially when the extent of your earnings depend on it. Tennis has done really well over the past 50 years as a business. If its stars all pulled away from media responsibilities then it would have the financial appeal of county cricket.
A quick google has revealed she is a supporter of Black Lives Matter. And regularly has to endure countless questions about that during post match interviews.
It’s all becoming clear now. Could have guessed from those weighing in on her.

. Same as no doubt a number of other athletes.
But they are not the ones complaining about media interviews, hypocrite much.
Finally I can agree with you.
1 person the same amount that cares what you
Ok noted I will leave this thread as the idea of cultural appropriation is a load of b*l*cks anyway..

This thread isnt about cultural appropriation .
What a Strange thing to say on a thread about a
professional Tennis Player & her press conference problems .

You’re right, a handful of other athletes have also spoken out for BLM. Anthony Joshua, Lewis Hamilton, that Kapernick American footballer, all spring to mind. All immensely popular characters after voicing their opinions.

I back her. Personally I couldn't care less what the pros have to say, it's them playing sport that I want to watch.
This. Who gives a damn about press conferences lmao

Well there you go then.
She struggles with media work due to anxiety issues which I fully understand and support her on.
As it is a requirement for her to undertake these though she needs professional help to coach her through it.
As I said previously though a few standard bland, non-commits replies would see her through the vast majority of questions.
It is nothing to do with her being targeted for speaking up on BLM but don’t let that stop your agenda and not give proper standing to her mental health issues.
