Did Ross and ML already know Dan Johnson, Conor Wilkinson, Dan Kemp, Ekpiteta, Bonne...? Not aware of any prior connectionso-no wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 9:51 amSo another pointer towards our scouting network extending no further than 'people Ross and Martin already know'RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 12:15 amIn an interview I'm sure he said that Ross being our manager was a major factor in him joining us . I believe they worked together at Swindon.
But yeah agreed, Ross and Ling using their connections to bring in LV really worked Out terribly didn’t it

I don't believe I said it worked out badly - it obviously worked out well. Like you, I have no idea if the others are connected or not
What I'm trying to understand is more about how 'recruitment' at LOFC works

Re: Laurence Vigouroux
Ross knew LV from his Swindon days, Bonne apparently lived in Broxbourne where Lingy lives and Sam knew him, Dan Kemp has been on radar for ages until we signed him, Dan Johnson came on and scored for Grimsby (twice I think) when we played them and was 3-0 up only to throw it away (again) Justin liked the look of him.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 10:29 amDid Ross and ML already know Dan Johnson, Conor Wilkinson, Dan Kemp, Ekpiteta, Bonne...? And DJ didn't play for Grimsby (because Justin would not have seen him when we did eventually play them).

Likely to go. But we all know that. Too good for L2. He’s got to look after his career, family and finances. If he gets a better deal elsewhere he would be silly not to consider it carefully.
Orient to him are just another club, another employer. He enjoyed his time here, did well for us, thanks from me. Good luck in the future wherever that is.

More than that, the average wage in that league is 16k apparently.Still wrong wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 2:38 pmOn about 5 k a week.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 2:27 pm LV is probably going to end up bench warming for a Championship club.

This could be a good shout. He is 36 but goalkeepers go on until their in their 40s. Just been released by Leicester I believe.

Re: Laurence Vigouroux
I just wish we could get our new chosen manager over the line in order to try and persuade him to stay . We're not going to find a better keeper than Vigers at our level.Dohnut wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 2:55 pm Likely to go. But we all know that. Too good for L2. Re: Laurence Vigouroux
One of the positives of getting a good manager and soon is that it gives him the chance to speak to those offered deals already. With the right manager and contract they could stay. Especially in these uncertain times.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 4:35 pmI just wish we could get our new chosen manager over the line in order to try and persuade him to stay . Re: Laurence Vigouroux
I thought Glenn Morrimdog looked a perfectly decent L2 keeper in our games this season. Could be worth revisiting?

Re: Laurence Vigouroux
I think LV's done very well, but people seem to gloss over a number of mistakes he has made this year. He's no better than most of the other l1 and l2 keepers we've had over the last 20 years (cisak, Jones, Allsop, Morris, Garner, Harrison, Barrett), I think this is pretty much his level.

Re: Laurence Vigouroux
Totally disagree. He’s a decent L1 keeper all day long. Possibly not commanding enough to go higher than that.Adz wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 11:52 pm I think LV's done very well, but people seem to gloss over a number of mistakes he has made this year. None of the others listed above come close.
