Yes, they could be that stupid

The only thing close about these two are the odds. In term of ability KJ is in another league.

Calderwood is the cheap option. More mates rates rather than driving ambition. No guarantees in football but the chances of Calderwood being better than KJ are slim.

Surely it can’t happen!

It can and it probably will.
Any talk of Jackett is dreamland stuff.
He will cost a fortune with no guarantee of success,

Just remember when Fletcher was appointed he wasn't even in the list until the last minute before appointment. Just easy money for the bookies. Perhaps Chris Powell will pop up at the last as the surprise appointment.

Just to clear this up:

Jackett becomes manager = great appointment, Ling's finally had his wings clipped, well done the owners!
Calderwood bceomes manager = terrible appointment, no ambition, jobs for the boys, Ling pulling the strings!

Have I understood this right?

Seems to be the case.

Also the fact Calderwood has appeared in the odds seems an excuse for the usual dullards to lash out at the club when the odds are nothing to do with them.

Worth remembering that all managers who are available were useless in their last job.

We all realise the odds reflect betting patterns not club intentions. But it’s interesting to reflect on how each person in the odds would be perceived should they be appointed. After all, someone will.

It would be a complete “Stitch Up” if Calderwood is given the job. He was approached before Fletcher was interviewed but he turned it down due to the fact he had just signed a new deal with Cambridge. This all pals together has got to stop. I think Ling only likes people he can control. Jackett has much more experience and that would be a problem to Ling.

According to a very reliable transfer twitter account (EFLTRANSFERTALK), we have 3 top targets, Jackett and Wellens being two of them and Calderwood is not the third. Apparently Jackett and Wellens are both interested in the job so we are looking at both.

Also looking at Sky Bet odds, Tisdale has all of a sudden became third favourite at 12/1 and Chris Powell has also came from nowhere at 16/1 fifth favourite! Jackett still odds on with Wellens fourth. Calderwood still second but after hearing the stuff from EFLTRANSFERTALK, I think it's rubbish. Believe them over the bookoes any day! They get at least 85% of their rumours correct.

Don’t get the interest in Wellens.
At Swindon he had a points ratio of 1.46 per game.
Probably had a top 3 budget.
He was sacked from two other clubs with a pretty poor points total.

Kenny Jackett is far away the best candidate.
Win rate at Portsmouth 1.72
Wolves 1.66
Millwall. 1.51.
As near as a dead cert we could get.
Can’t see the owners showing the sort of ambition needed.

Calderwood has a career average of 1.46, which to be fair, is not bad.
His last two jobs have been a disaster.

We've had good success with crap spurs defenders as managers, maybe that is why Calderwood is high on the list :)

And that's the problem isn't it. I will be very disappointed if Calderwood gets it, that tells me the extensive research to find a good manager goes no further than Martin's Christmas card list.

Let's remember that Calderwood is currently assistant at Blackpool who are getting ready for the play offs.
