But you only need to listen to his commentary to know he hasn't got an effin clue and is a sycophantic brown noser to the Club Hierarchy. No offence meant.

It’s interesting to see he blamed Covid for the teams lack of fitness for the back end of the season. I thought it was down to just players being sh*t, out of their depth and a general feeling of “can’t be arsed” and “I know I won’t get another contract” so f*ck this club attitude. Or it could be well be Covid that made them play ok one week and then like a bunch of giraffes on skates the next.

Some of you are seriously nasty pieces of work.
Dave has served the club for nearly 40 years, I've never heard him say a bad word about anyone other than a certain Italian. Away from the club he heads a special needs school where, judging from some of the replies on here the pupils are infinitely more intelligent than some of you. He is a good man with a good heart. Some of you should try commentating for 90 minutes without making a mistake.
In all truthfulness his job this season has been made so difficult with no crowd and no atmosphere, but he has done his best. He isn't a brown nose, he's an honest guy who has been a friend to me and many others over many years. Perhaps ask what you can do to help the club rather than sledging relentlessly those that do provide a service.
It's the same little clique, most of the people on the board are fine, but it's a nasty little crowd who pipe up each time, same names, give it a rest eh, and leave DV alone, we need more people like Dave and less of the likes of some of you.

An Embletonian hissy fit, considering only two people criticised him, and only one of those was out of order.

Judging by the commentary DV’s view was often obstructed.

I don't know the bloke so will take your word for it that he's a decent chap. However, his commentary is really poor and he does support the status quo at all times. Maybe you have to do that to keep in with the club and keep your job? As for your digs at others - meh.

Agreed. Baffles as to why some people feel the need to be so unpleasant.

Dave Victor is a tremendous man, does a great job with the commentary and is an Orient fan through and through.

He’s a positive influence and is always honest and thoughtful rather then the constant negativity some people choose to apply to almost anything the club does via barbed comments or sarcasm

Outside of the commentary, I always find Daves views balanced and well thought out. He’s very intuitive and a genuinely lovely bloke.
Although not sure about the insinuation that special needs kids are thick..:

Funny that, cause we started pre-season earlier so we’d be the fittest in the league

What a nasty piece of work YOU are. Are you suggesting special needs kids aren’t intelligent? You go and tell some of their parents about their intelligence. Utter scumbag.

He makes mistakes every game. From getting the opposition team wrong, to players and everything else in between. I’m sure he is a lovely bloke who has served the club well but people pay for a service and he can’t get basic things right.

Being the father of someone with severe autism and who was a former pupil of one of Daves previous schools I would not assume they are 'thick'. What I've said is that they are clearly more intelligent than some of you. But it probably went over your head. Never mind.

On this note, yes he does make some mistakes, as anyone does. He hasn't a team correcting him through his headphones as they do on TV.
I was the video commentator for 30 years which included 7 years with ITV West but Elliot in his infinite wisdom borne of a whole 18 months of work experience decided to go with a radio commentary for television broadcast. Hence you end up with birthday wishes and other stuff that is there to fill dead air for the radio listener. TV and radio commentary are totally different and require different skill sets. DV is a decent radio commentator

No, the insinuation is that the kids, despite their special needs and in many cases learning difficulties are far more intelligent than certain people on here.
My daughter has never spoken since she was 6 due to her severe autism, she is now 37, I know plenty about special needs kids and schools.
My wife and I helped Dave set up a business in Stevenage where the kids are able to sell sweets and paint pottery and learn basic business skills.
I never ever take the pee out of special needs kids Adam.

The mistakes he makes just seem careless. Sometimes it feels like he isn’t even watching the game, his reaction is completely different to what the co-commentator (I should know his name, he’s been pretty good) sees. When I listen to 5 live, they don’t start wishing people happy birthday to fill dead air. He could speak about a run of fixtures coming up, players’ form, stuff going on at the club etc. The birthday stuff is amateur hour stuff.

Will miss him when he packs it in. His malapropisms etc are all part of the charm of supporting a lower league side.

Once again people come on these websites and are plain nasty. Hiding behind aliases. I wonder if they have the bollox to say these sort of things on a face to face basis, or if they used their real names. Can someone explain to me why, on a site for Orient fans to chat about the team, they seemingly love, is there a need to hide behind an alias? This surely encourages people who have probably never done a good deed in their life, to act in a puerile manner. BoniO , please re-read your posting and then if you stand by your obnoxious comments, have the guts to give us all your real name.

Never met and have only really listened to him during the lockdown games this past year.

It’s pretty clear from his commentary in game and the chats before and after that he’s Orient through and through and, more importantly, a decent bloke. As in really decent. Gentle, compassionate, kind - properly nice.

But he’s that bad as a commentator, it’s comical - the technical issues every week, the muddled up names, the constant checking with His Cock about what the ref has blown up for. 😁 I wouldn’t have had it any other way, mind you.
