Yes in every other avenue of life I do but do not be blinded and led astray by ever having hope in Orient. It will come to a sad, sad, bitter, bitter end.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 3:24 pmDo you not know what hope means?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 3:04 pmThen you are a fool.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 3:02 pm I’ve been really negative about the lack of players and manager for next season but part of me is hoping we get this rebuild right and looking forward to it. To be fair, if the worst we have to grumble about is Clay being offered a new contract then I guess I'll take that.
Good that we're clearing out so much dead wood.

Yep, it's a real opportunity. Replace the 11 leaving with 8-9 quality players and we're well on the way to where we want to be.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 3:02 pm I’ve been really negative about the lack of players and manager for next season but part of me is hoping we get this rebuild right and looking forward to it. He will probably sign a few players first.
I would have expected an announcement now on the new manager.

Re: Os staying and going
Same argument as for Turley and a Widdowson. All could fill a role in the squad, just not as first choice. But the other two are that much older.
I don’t mind that.

Finally the penny has dropped. Plenty of scope for the new manager. Wonder if he or upstairs read and take notice of what people have been saying and that’s why he’s made that statement.Has the chairman had a word?. Let’s hope that he sticks to his word.

Of course the powers that be read this board and all decisions are decided on what they read here.Ross was only sacked because some on here said they wouldn't renew their season tickets.

Re: Os staying and going
What happens if the new manager comes in and doesn't want someone on the 'offered a contract' list, or he wants to keep someone on the 'not retained' list?

Yes I thought you would be happy when I saw the released list.
I have to say though it was the right decision because league two is above Ling’s level. I’m looking forward now to see who our new manager will be and what players he bring in.

Re: Os staying and going
I think the club got it right with the released and retained lists. For people on here to only complain about clay being kept on implies most of us agree . I expect most of our released players to end up back in the national league but have a gut feeling Dennis will end up at another league two club

That's pretty close to what most of us would have wanted I think.
Slightly surprised by Clay, don't really know enough about Sweeney, but I thought he looked useful in his short spell as sub last Saturday.

Re: Os staying and going
Mostly right but as above can't fathom a Clay contract unless it's a 1 year on vastly reduced terms as cover.
As above though if any of those offered want to sign will the new manager get to make the final call? Can't be wasting budget on players that they either don't rate or won't fit whatever style said manager wants to bring in.
