Sad to see Jobi leave

I think we have made a massive mistake in letting JM leave. He took over a weak squad, who gave him the typical ‘new manager bounce’ but then quickly dropped back to the standard they had previously shown.

He would have learned so much in his short time, and I am convinced he would have made some decent signings in the summer. He could have come back with ‘his’ squad and I for one was quite excited.

Unless the board have already got a quality replacement ready, then I doubt we will get the ‘big name’ we all wish for.

With JM we had a lad that liked the club, has played at every level, talks very well, clearly intelligent. He would definitely have the desire to succeed as opposed to just existing (as a few managers do), and I’m in no doubt he will go on to be a massive success elsewhere.

He would have no problem getting decent players to work with him, he is an attractive proposition for both new, and older heads - we are now in a position where we could potentially sign new players without a manager in place, and that is stupidity. Players are drawn to what players are at the club, and who the gaffer is - we are now weak on both fronts.

I hope I’m pleasantly surprised by the new appointment - but I just can’t help feel we have just lost our biggest asset.

Well said - I’m absolutely livid. Don’t really give a toss who we appoint now.
Mark Bonner didn’t have a whole lot of experience at Cambridge when he was appointed

There was a podcast pushing for a Mentor with 1 of the owners .
I think this may have clouded some judgement at the top of the club .

I'd love to see Jobi go on into management because I feel he has the makings of being a really good manager . It would be interesting to see what he could do with a better team of players.

Jobi or Ross what is the difference. We get better players we finish higher up. Sad to see them both go, they tried there best.

Just cannot see a journeyman L1/2 manager being any better (including Slade).
We are an East End club and I WAS mighty proud that we had a black manager. Not only that, I viewed it as an asset.
We really have missed an opportunity here and I’m fuc-kin upset.

Jobi announced his playing by retirement on Instagram. And by the sounds of it he’s still deciding what he’s doing next but doesn’t look like it’s with us

Some interesting replies in here but long story short neither Embleton nor McAnuff were ready for management.

The sad thing in all this is Jobi could've easily done another year as a player. Managed well he was leading the group on the pitch and ended up providing two goal of the season contenders plus I remember some stats showing he was also our most creative CM before moving to management duties.

Some really poor judgement calls from above have cost us good staff who were doing fine in their roles. Can only hope the penny has finally dropped but it's took a lot of collateral damage to do it.

Nigel & Kent only reacted to the threat of fans
Withdrawing support by not funding season tickets.

It's warranted to react .
Blame those who called for heads to roll for dire football etc .
All while forgetting about Squad decimated for 5 to 6 weeks with covid , empty grounds etc .

The moaners will tell you it had nothing to do with them !
To that i would say lo9k what has gone on after Nigel & Kent said they
both read the Social media .

Ross gone , Jobi gone , now the attacks on Harold Brill Senda Saah &

Can’t believe that they would be so fickle. Usual lines on a forum from fans that just wish to vent their frustrations come what may. I’m sure half of which don’t even have a season ticket.

I’m hardly licking my lips at the likes of Cooper/Collingwood managing the team. This was an absolute crap season where we have missed a huge opportunity of progressing. Providing Jobi with opportunity of football management was the brightest part of the season and gave a good platform going into the next season. Now 20/21 will just be labelled as a car crash of a season and other than the signing of Kemp/Thompson and a new roof on the East Stand can be flushed down the pan.

I guess it was a gamble to nothing given we were getting nowhere near the play-offs under Embleton.

I recall Travis saying he keeps hearing about appointing a manager with experience from many fans, but Jobi has an incredible amount of experience under a great many managers in his career, and me thinking “no that isn’t what we meant, it’s experience in the job”! Anyway hopefully we’ll end up in the right place, from the club statement the board seem to have made the right noises this time, let’s hope the appointment when it comes bears it out.

Was said at the time too. Top player but not ready for management at the drop of a hat, especially considering he'd stepped back from coaching to focus on the playing & media side at the start of the season.
