Another thing.....any new manager will have to agree to work under a DOF, and lots wont. It restricts the candidates by a lot.
If the club got rid of the DOF, the number of candidates wouldn suddenly get more appealing im sure
Just said this to someone else, I think a lot will depend on the DoF role being watered down and shifted elsewhere so there's no interference. Seems like manager will get to pick their own coaching team this time too based on Teague's comments the other week.
The club have constantly emphasised that Ling has basically met their exspectations and I assume they like us have some criticisms as in one pod cast Nigel cut short one question re Ling because Nigel was not prepared to carry out an employer performance review on a pod show.
Kent too emphasised Ling historical achievements at Lofc as the only person that has achieved promotions in multiple different roles at the club.
Yes we all know Ling shortcomings, but hey tell me is anyone of us or our work colleagues the perfect employee - no.
So we have Ling and I really do not believe that person in that role will inhibit the reasoning that a decent expierenced ( successful ) manager if offered the job as manager would not take it Ling or no Ling.
Peterborough rise and fall, now rise has Fry there and they appear to not only do generally better than most teams of similar size - they make an absolute fortune on the transfer market.
Personally I think people like Slade / Still could if they were given an opportunity do a reasonable job in Lings role with potentially a higher grade of return on transfers given
- a ) Slade more upbeat personality
- b) Still sustained ability he has proven at Dagenham over decades.
Both have " red blood " in their veins
That does not mean Ling cannot carry on in a modified tole to suit his positive attributes and subsiding his negative ones which appears to me to be public speaking / and using the publicised methodology in his decision making ( procurement of Fletcher / Davis and the promotion of a reluctant Ross.
All three failures in different ways and not solely Lings fault the board too who ratified his recommendations.
We still do not know why Fletcher was discarded with what appears no or little support of the other Lofc staff or directors after ticking all the boxes except expierence.
All we all want is a new manager that informs the public simply he has a major say in the players he wants to play the system or systems he needs to get the mandate of promotion achieved - without promotion he too will be disgarded by Lofc
- and Lofc will be only wasting more money and causing more agony to all.
