Guesses for new manager
My guess, they will go with the soft option and Ross will get the gig, assisted of course by others already at the club.

Re: Guesses for new manager
It will be a ‘temporary’ internal move. If they do well they will get it permanently, if not, they will get a new external manager a few months in and move those interim managers back to where they were before

This, seconded. All the team talk has to be is 'let's do it for Justin'. That should be enough for the lads.

Re: Guesses for new manager
I would like the nice Mr Challinor or being ridiculous Chris Hughton, local lad and his brother Henry played here for a while.
Back to reality and I reckon it will be Jobi player manager with the same coaching staff and Martin offering guidance.

Re: Guesses for new manager
Don't want it to be Ross... Looked out of his depth last time he was caretaker.
Strikes me as a good coach I think it would be hard to man manage players, although he could play the 'good cop' role quite well.
I would love it if Jobi did well enough to be manager long term, I do think he's a future manager.
Jobi for me edges it over Webby... Jobi I feel could be quite a similar character to Justin in that he can be tough if he needed to be and commands respect.

Really ?Orient-Jude wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 4:58 pm Have heard from a reliable source that Jobi will be the next manager.
Well if that does happen, would be something that was done on pure sentimentality rather than hard headed logic.
It could be Jobi on a purely temporary basis, but as to permanent, well only if he did really well ?

Agree 100% about Ross, he may be an ok Coach, but I do not think he is a strong enough character to be the manager of Leyton Orient.eagwgw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 5:10 pm Don't want it to be Ross... Looked out of his depth last time he was caretaker.

Unless someone comes from outside, I think it could be on a trial type basis for one of the current coaching staff ( including Jobi )
An rank outsider for the job could be Matt Harrold, he stood in as a tempory manager at Crawley Town !!

Re: Guesses for new manager
Sentiment is important at the moment IMO.
Give it t' Jobi t' end o' season.
If it goes balls up we can get someone in half way, the last guy didn't do too badly.
It is fact that managers in the future are going to want things their way, but I feel now is too soon.

Re: Guesses for new manager
That’s what Travis said. Seems the decision has been made and they just want a few days to make sure it’s the right one. That approach suggests Ross to me. Else we would be looking at interviews from outside the club and it would be hard to keep that quiet and make a quick decision. Slade is the only outsider who fits that bill.

Re: Guesses for new manager
Webb would be my choice, he has more about him them Embleton.
I don't like the sound of a committee group or a player manager, nor any type of temporary trial basis appointment. I 100% agree sentiment and continuity in this unheard of situation is very important but so are conviction and resolve to continue the club in a forwards trajectory.

Re: Guesses for new manager
I'm going for this:-
Short term
Jobi and Ross as joint managers with Jobi as a Player / Manager
Danny as Asst Manager - with some extra responsibility.
ML stays out of the detail
Medium term (if league performance good) - leave it alone and Jobi does more managing and only cameo playing
Medium term (if results poor, experienced new manager)

Re: Guesses for new manager
Love Jobi and don’t think it’s he worst choice but I have three issues with it if true:
1- he has no managerial experience at all. We are a newly promoted team with a lot of young players, in a difficult situation that even a well seasoned manager might struggle to contain.
2- what happens if we are bottom in December...he gets sacked?
3- where does it leave Webb and embleton? A sh*t situation and then they are snubbed for a player with no experience.

Re: Guesses for new manager
Clever choice of words from Travis. Doesn't rule out external appointments, promotion of existing coaching staff or a player stepping up. He's definitely a lot more polished in saying nothing at all but coming across as being informative then Hearn was.
