Should match streaming continue next season.

Do you think we should continue to have match streaming for fans who live to far a distance to attend games at the stadium every fortnight.

I have a 90 mile round trip to watch the O’s and I know people who travel a lot further. I still don’t think we are out of the woods with Covid so I think streaming is going to continue next season at least in its current format where fans can either attend or stream but it’s a poor substitute for going to games IMHO.

As for the future I think clubs have seen the potential and it maybe there will be streaming season tickets available for our distant O’s fans. And possibly an away games season ticket on general sales

Definitely, would be an excellent source of income for the club for any fans that live a good distance away or unable to attend for any other reason.

I don’t think it will affect attendances much. If people wanted to just watch games from home there are already a multitude on Sky, BT, Amazon etc. I would go to Orient ahead of watching a stream. And away fans go for a variety of reasons and generally are the more dedicated fan who attend regardless.

The away regulars will go regardless. We all know/have been the sort. The day out is part of the whole experience.

I’d hope the streaming option would continue. For people such as me 100 miles from the ground, and a big time hit in attending (not to mention cost of fuel & day out) the club get more of my money via streaming than they do over the course of a normal season.

I’ve streamed every EFL game so far, I’d normally visit Brisbane Road perhaps 5-6 times a season pre pandemic, and would still visit at a similar level for the atmosphere/ social side, as I invariably go with or meet another mate there, it’s a day out, pre match stroll, burger and a couple of pubs, I’d still want to do that.

If there was a wider EFL concern re crowds diminishing too much with streaming, the technology is there to encourage it the right way. We’re signed up with our clubs with home postcodes, so an easy automatic distance check, the further one lives from the ground the more streaming allowed maybe. In my case they have my record of tickets bought pre pandemic and streaming since, they can see the advantages, time for football to embrace more streaming options post pandemic.

It is not just a matter of distance. All the medication I am on, makes it a nightmare to be out and about. On a bad day I need to pee every 30 mins or so & speedo. Especially when cold. As for sitting 90 minutes in a freezing stadium it is a no no. Come April, May and September it ain't too bad. But having to put up with sideways passing in the comfort of your armchair is pretty bad too; as I discovered I was paying £10 for a 90 minutes plus snooze. Please please, next season continue with the streaming, but let's be a bit more adventurous.

That’s unlikely. Paying £20 plus for a stream would make it very expensive and very few sales will happen at that price level. I would say that lowering the price to £5 would mean more impulse buys with the attitude, it’s only a fiver. Given the choice of £20 to attend of £5 to stream, I would attend. In fact I would attend even if the stream was free.

Bits of it have been good. Maybe too few good bits, but not a total disaster like the second half of 2016/17.

A lot of clubs are going to be in a dreadful financial position because of the pandemic so I think the continuation of streaming must happen. I live a long way from E10 so the clubs had more money out of me this season than it would do otherwise. I don't really want to get on a train to London until Covid is beaten. I've people that I love and care about whose interests and wellbeing come first. It wouldn't surprise me if the utter jokers who run the Football League put the kybosh on it though. Perish the thought that their own members could actually maximise their revenue.
From the O's point of view we have a very geographically spread out fanbase and streaming would allow the club to generate revenue from far flung fans. I doubt if it would affect matchday attendances too much.

Now that I am in my seventies I am more reluctant to sit in the stand on a freezing cold winters evening that I was when I was younger. I have really enjoyed watching some many games this season on the stream.

Absolutely, if it's not available I won't renew. What with the vivid restrictions and anti-car policies coming in all around London attending the ground is going to be more of a chore than anything, I'm personally happy to stream at home for the most part.

It's all about whether the EFL have the common sense and vision to realise that clubs won't lose out from streaming. Those who desperately want to get back to the ground will do so but those who can't / won't travel are the ones that are revenue gain from streaming. It's really a no-brainer, so of course the EFL idiots still likely do the opposite and ban it.

I have no idea of the costs of doing it. Presumably games are recorded as a matter of course these days so there shouldn't be too much extra cost in streaming. I would certainly watch away games that are not close enough to go to, also watching a match at home rather than at a freezing cold stadium has its attractions .

I do hope common sense will prevail.I don’t think it will have affect the crowd size who can get to the stadium . I also think that the government will still only let in a percentage of the capacity of the stadium which will also include no away fans. I think streaming has got to be a thing of the future.
