Re: London Mayor Election
There won’t be any pollution once the dirty , diesel, black cabs and buses have gone. And with the change to electric vehicles , it will be a problem of the past.
And of course , the clue is in the name. It is a congestion charge , not a pollution charge

Re: London Mayor Election
Khan is a bit of a nothing politician beyond being good for a soundbite and positioning himself well. But the mayor is a nothing political role. Very few powers beyond responsibility for tfl and met police.
Putting up Bailey as a sacrificial lamb has been odd from the Tories. Don't get the impression Khan is particularly liked but they didn't bother putting up a vaguely plausible candidate, or failing that, a Tory celeb on an ego trip who could throw a spanner in the works. They've got the worst of all worlds - a failed politician who says mental stuff.

Re: London Mayor Election
Pandemic, tfl finances being left in tatters by Johnson and then billions scrapped in central government subsidy for tfl as a f u to London for voting Labour means I hope so, cause otherwise our transport system would collapse.RientO wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 3:52 pmDoes Khan like money?
Most people living here can move easily into relying completely on public transport.

Re: London Mayor Election
Shaun Bailey worked for 20 years as a youth worker. He might be able to connect better with the youth of London to try and bring down knife crime. I listened to him on the radio Sunday and was quite impressed with him. Seemed very energetic and on his game. He’s got my vote .

" Bailey was the subject of BBC Radio 4 series The House I Grew Up In, in which he said he had committed burglary in his youth and said: "I had a particular group of friends who indulged in a burglary. I had done it with them Reflecting on gang culture, Bailey commented: "The problem of having estates with names is that people become very territorial. You kind of defend your 'ends'. Because you don't want your locale to be seen as where the pussies live."[

Re: London Mayor Election
From a practical perspective, it's harder to get business done with city Hall when the London mayor is from a different party to whomever holds power in Westminster. But it's a pretty pointless role, so I'm not too bothered.
Khan will win. Bailey is a joke. I was learning towards voting for Binface, but my kids want me to vote for some Youtuber. So I may just do that.
