If there is no response on Saturday to the Southend shambles, I will be reviewing my thoughts on Jobi.

Re: Jobi or new manager
I don’t think there will be much response as the players are now basically on holiday. Think Jobi deserves the chance and will get it purely because he’s done ok and is also a cheap option. Personally I would get rid of all the coaches ( no need at this level)and just keep the Manager, assistant manager and chief scout. That way everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet plus they could afford one or two more playersOrient Punxx wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 1:29 pm If there is no response on Saturday to the Southend shambles, I will be reviewing my thoughts on Jobi.

Re: Jobi or new manager
Once again its the Orient thing we have so much respect for Jobi it most of us feel if he dont get the job we have let him down.
We are to nice deep down all of us would like a complete clear out of DOF Training staff and most of the playing staff.
That aint going to happen because as I say its the Nice little Leyton Orient thing.
It appears most fans dont worry about the football its meeting your mates for a day out.
If you want success you need a b*stard like Evans and we dont do that do we.

Re: Jobi or new manager
I've been torn. I like Jobi, but the football under him is frankly dire.
I would like a new manager, who would bring in his own staff, and who would be choosing his own players. There's going to have to be a lot of new signings in the summer, and the new man must have the ability to choose them himself.
We have too many coaches, and some of them must go too.
The new manager must have a promotion on his CV.
Kenny Jackett, or Richie Wellens, are two names very acceptable to me, both having promotions on their CV.
I realise Kenny won't come cheap, but it's time to get quality in the building.

Re: Jobi or new manager
We need to make our mind up by the end of the season or we will waste May trying to get a new manager in.
Our DoF seems to do the shopping list without checking the cupboard to see what he needs.
Let alone asking the person he shares the kitchen with what they want to cook.
There must be a more joined up approach between the manager and player recruitment.

Re: Jobi or new manager
We have got to get away from being. a “nice little “ or “cosy” club. We have a great CEO in Danny Macklin who in my opinion what he has achieved on the financial side of the club with club sponsorship has been fabulous. I know Ling did wonders when the owners took over in getting a team ready in around 3 weeks. But on the coaching and players side at the moment it is “cosy”. A major overall in thinking is required NOW if we are to achieve the owners ambitions.Bluecap wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 1:47 pm Once again its the Orient thing we have so much respect for Jobi it most of us feel if he dont get the job we have let him down.

Re: Jobi or new manager
I don’t know what people expect. This is the exact same coaching set up that has failed twice before. Nothing is new. There are no new thoughts on approaching the game. Until we build a squad fit for how a manager wants to set his team up and not just buy a load of decent players that are available, we’ll be having the same debates.

Re: Jobi or new manager
Personally I would prefer to see someone from outside the current personnel at the club brought in as manager. The existing set up has not been working well for the best part of two seasons now imho and the time is right for a change.

Jackett will want 5k a week and his own back room staff.Jack wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 1:53 pm I've been torn. I like Jobi, but the football under him is frankly dire.

I think we are overloaded with the amount of coaches we have. Give Jobi the job and streamline the coaching staff. Put the money saved towards bringing in better quality playersmoonwalk19 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 1:19 pm If jobi is to become our new manager should he retain our current coaching team. Re: Jobi or new manager
Depends how serious the board are about promotion. I’m not saying he’s the answer but giving him good money and building a squad in his name will get us out of this league and pushing playoffs if not promotion in league 1. If a bigger club want him, then we end up getting a big fee to release him.Still wrong wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 3:57 pmJackett will want 5k a week and his own back room staff.Jack wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 1:53 pm I've been torn. What were Embleton and Fletcher’s pay offs? A lot more than 5k a week I bet.

Re: Jobi or new manager
So you expect Kent to stump up a load of cash so we can get promotion to a higher league where the attendances will be much the same but the wages will be higher?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 4:37 pmDepends how serious the board are about promotion. Can’t really see him going for that.
Also, it will cost a fortune to get rid of KJ if he fails.

Phil Brown
He can't be on much money at Southend, and presumably he will look to move on after the season ends.
He is experienced, had some good times and some bad

Re: Jobi or new manager
Look since jobi took over as the intern manager until the end of the season overhaul we have been very lucky I believe that he has been very lucky but we need someone else to come in if not an experience manager then I don’t know take away those wins in a roll and the draws we could have been at the bottom again

Re: Jobi or new manager
Jobi has managed to stabilise a sinking ship so to speak
With players he hasnt picked , who in general arent of the best
ability .
Just Imagine what he can do wirh players he chooses to bring in &
He believes he can get the best out of .
Jobi gets the gig all day long for me .

Re: Jobi or new manager
Fresh face please, too many occasions where McAnuff has reverted back to the Embleton tactics which suggests he's either not his own man making the decisions or honestly believes that style of football works.
Personally think we missed a trick by not getting an experienced person in with McAnuff as assistant. Senda should've gone with Embleton imo.

Re: Jobi or new manager
Jobi’s record so far is P 14, W 6, D 4, L 4, Pts 22
If extrapolated out to a season it would give us about 72 points, which is borderline play offs.
Worth bearing in mind he achieved that from a squad (minus Thompson) which had achieved 15 points from the previous 14 games, so Jobi has shown a 47% improvement on Embleton’s final equivalent number of fixtures.
I was not in favour of Jobi’s appointment, I felt we needed an experienced manager with some success on his CV and still hold to that view back then, but said I’d back him and give him a chance.
Based on the above stats he’s improved things, the football and results were dire at the end of Embleton’s reign, Jobi had to work with what he inherited, he’s had no transfer window. The football hasn’t been great for sure, but from a fair minded perspective he’s probably done enough to warrant the summer window to see what he can really deliver.
