Good to see your Blaming Boris & the Tories
It’s taken me sometime Tuffers , but on this matter I am
What you aren't criticising though is that this government allowed the Export of the
English Variant to India by allowing many people here to travel to India while being infected .

Only fair they should have the chance to bring another more up to date
Variant back wouldnt you agree
Don’t disagree with that either. But we have been locked down since January and prevented from travelling while others are travelling in and out of the UK at will.
I accept that they are supposed to self isolate on arrival ,
so why is it not acceptable for me to travel to Spain and also self isolate.
Either no one should be able to travel , or everyone should

And it is not the UK variant that is swamping India now. It’s a new Indian variant that apparently doesn’t require investigation yet

The reason is a Simple one
India supplied the majority of our AZ vaccine .
Deals were signed between the UK & India & they were not on the Red List.
Just another Tory Government f*ck up

Its got nothing to do with you wanting to go on holiday to Spain

It has something to do with us all being held in the UK against our will.
There are 30 flights a day between the UK and India. That’s despite the fact that India has around 200,000 cases a day. 3 weeks ago we put Bangladesh and Pakistan on the red list. Bangladesh had neither the South Africa or Brazilian variant and Pakistan had cases of one of the two. At the same time , India had cases of both and yet were left off the red list.

I don’t want to spend another day in lockdown. If it means that I cannot travel this year to achieve this luxury , I will accept it willingly.
But I won’t accept it if we continue to allow foreign travel to the UK for everyone else in the world.

Morning Tuffers. I hope you are looking forward to another 4000 Indians popping over this week after they recorded 314,835 cases yesterday. No wonder they prefer the UK

You’re deliberately confusing two issues. Firstly, you’re correctly criticising the Government for allowing the influx of Indian citizens - when India ought to be red-listed due to their infection rate. One more Tory screw up to add to the long list.

Then you say you won’t bother to follow COVID safety guidelines because of this. So your reaction to this Tory screw up is to do your best to make the situation worse by not following guidelines. Of course, if others as stupid as you did this you could collectively really “make a difference” and help plunge us back into another wave. Well done you!

But then you’re only a tiresome, sh*t-stirring WUM who pathetically gets off by posting provocative rubbish to gain attention. So after this post I’m ignoring you. Wonder which of our resident needy WUMs you really are?

My general point was that there is little point us giving up our freedoms whilst these travel policies persist.
I have already stated that I will happily follow the rules in place providing it is the same for everyone.
Clearly it isn’t.
Surely the purpose of a board is that people are free to post their views. Mine don’t happen to be the same as yours. Doesn’t mean I don’t respect yours.
What I don’t do is resort to name calling because someone has different views.

I am intelligent enough to decide which of the rules are sensible and those which are not. Been doing that since lockdown began whilst working everyday and avoiding Covid. I don’t happen to agree with travel bans unless we all follow the same rules

Let’s concentrate on my view on travel from India , a Covid hot spot. When we are all sat indoors again this autumn, perhaps you will reflect on my comments about this issue rather than my throwaway comment about following rules , said in anger.
I wrongly assumed that boarders would react more to the former rather than the latter

OK, let's do that:
George wrote: Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:52 am Unbelievably, and despite warnings and plenty of evidence, we have decided to allow a new and even more worrying variant into the country. It has safe passage until 4am Friday when we will cease flights from India.
That's a very odd way of saying that the government has announced that India has been added to the red list and given a few days' notice. Now there's an argument that it could/should have been added earlier, or with less notice - but equally it's reduced the notice from the last time, when a week's notice was given for other countries including Bangladesh and Pakistan.

So notwithstanding how long the decision took, the fact is half the notice has been given for adding India to the red list.
George wrote: Wed Apr 21, 2021 8:29 pm 4000 Indians are flying in every week
A briefing document drawn up by officials at Public Health England shows that between 25 March and 7 April, 3,345 arrivals from India were registered in UK border travel data - so roughly 1,675 per week across that fortnight (source: BBC news item linked above).

Unless you can source other data to the contrary, you've inflated the figure nearly 2.5 times.
George wrote: Wed Apr 21, 2021 9:15 pm There are 30 flights a day between the UK and India.
No there aren't. There are 30 a WEEK (a limit set by the Indian government), so you've inflated the figure 7 times.
George wrote: Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:52 am I am done with following the rules.
And this is the real point - you're desperate for any excuse to stop following Covid rules, hardly surprising since you were advocating last August for everyone to get back to work and in October for us to all grow up and get on with life.

In under 24 hours' time, anyone arriving from India will have to quarantine. Stop looking for excuses, follow the guidance.

And with 340,000 cases yesterday it would have been more sensible to have Red listed India months ago. Perhaps 200,000 registered cases a day wasn’t enough.
I was in Spain in July and we were given no notice of quarantine rules. They were introduced without warning. Not sure why India should be different.
But congratulations to Boris for adding India to the red list now. Cracking decision

India is different becuase there will be lots of people with dual British/Indian citizenship
Also the Vaccines in the majority are made there .

Think about it like this .

Nigel Travis has been in London recently
Kent Teague hasnt .
Why ?

Nigel is a British/American dual Citizenship
Kent is an American Citizen
Singular citizenship .

British Citizens can come here as long as they stay in the Hotels & pass covid tests .
