Yeah, must admit I'm also really puzzled as to why our players played better against 21st in the league Barrow than recent opponents.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 12:56 pm Wilko like a different player today. Can’t think why.

I’m sure there must be some other reason why Wilko looked so much better and we looked so much more balanced. Any ideas?

Well he certainly learned nothing other than to ruin our chances of promotion.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 5:48 pmWell the excuse given many times was that Ross must be given the time to LEARN the job !cockhat wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 5:44 pmHe should never have been head coach/manager!PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 4:51 pm
Embleton should have gone a lot more than 6 games before and we would have had a definite chance of promotion, the owners and the advice from Ling has ruined our chance of promotion.
If we’d had somebody decent we would likely have been automatically promoted!

I'm happy with the result buy willl take our performance against a team like Barrow with the pinch of salt it deserves until the same team performs the same again against bigger fish.

Barrow might be in 21st place but they have been playing well lately . Last time out they beat Exeter who recently hammered us 4-0 so Barrow CAN play . Out of the three EFL league's , I think League Two has to be the most even.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 8:23 pmYeah, must admit I'm also really puzzled as to why our players played better against 21st in the league Barrow than recent opponents.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 12:56 pm Wilko like a different player today. The bit after the sixth word is irrelevant. If we'd have lost would you have said the result is accetable because they had been playing well recently?RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 10:07 pmBarrow might be in 21st place but they have been playing well lately . Re: Exiles thread - Barrow (H)
It's a really crap standard of a league this year.
But it's equally crap between 21 teams. Cambridge and Cheltenham have been as equally crap but just been marginally more consistent. But both have also been beaten regularly. Even we were beating Cambridge and only to a penalty against Cheltenham. And we're very crap.
The other 3 teams, Colchester, Grimsby and Southend seem standout worse. But even those have had some head turning results and moments in the season when things could have turned.

I'm an Orient supporter so extremely used to losing . What would have been unacceptable would have been if we had played sh*t and just rolled over. That's something we've done too many times in the past .Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 10:10 pmThe bit after the sixth word is irrelevant. So you'd have been happy if we'd played well and lost to 21st placed Barrrow?RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 10:14 pmI'm an Orient supporter so extremely used to losing . But he didn’t look as good on Tuesday night against equally piss poor opposition.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 10:05 pmRonnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 9:47 pmHarrogate are a couple of points better off, that’s all.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 8:23 pm

I’m sure there must be some other reason why Wilko looked so much better and we looked so much more balanced. Any ideas?
Wilko looked better against piss poor opponents with a still mainly non league squad. And where his lack of interest in helping out defensively down the right side didn't impact the result.
I'm happy with the result buy willl take our performance against a team like Barrow with the pinch of salt it deserves until the same team performs the same again against bigger fish.
I’m sure there must be some explanation as to why but no one can put their finger on it. It’s baffling. Let’s hope our much more knowledgable management team can work out why he was so much better and make sure it keeps happening.

Re: Exiles thread - Barrow (H)
Not sure about that - Harrogate have won 25% more games than Barrow so there is definitely a difference in ability between the teams. Also football is impacted by variability, with the biggest being how each team plays from game to game.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 10:09 amBut he didn’t look as good on Tuesday night against equally piss poor opposition.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 10:05 pmRonnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 9:47 pm

It's clear what you're getting at, but you claiming that as the reason but not accounting for quality of opposition is an incredibly biased view.
