All the more reason for the club to bring in a manager with a decent track record and experience. If we appoint from within it’s likely to be a long, hard season. Not only on the managerial and tactics side of things but our ability to attract new talent.

Re: Bonne to Charlton
You need to look beyond his goal statistics in saying he was dire after xmas. As soon as Dayton got injured we adopted a shift in our play. As a result we became more back to front and Bonne played almost exclusively as a target man and with his back to goal. He played literally every minute and gave his all for the cause - which he could have left as unfinished business in January. So instead of getting, say, £300k in January we lost £100k and he helped carry us over the line. I'd say that was both good business and Bonne should be respected for that. I'm not sure he will get in the team ahead of Lyle Taylor but his attitude won't be found wanting. He had to take an opportunity like this if he was going to achieve anything in football. Good luck to him - he will be missed.

Re: Bonne to Charlton
I don't believe that this will have happened in the last week.
But with Justin's passing and now Bonne leaving, I can see others also moving on, something I had really hoped, even expected, wouldn't happen. I honestly thought there was a chance we could retain the whole group, improve where needed, and go again.

Re: Bonne to Charlton
I have been thinking much the same, looks like after all the excitement and success we have had this season, may be a very hard slog next season and main task could well be to avoid getting relegated again.
As to Bonne, well a very hard working forward and has to be one of the best ( if not the best ? ) penalty taker's the Os have ever had play for them. Remember that nerve racking one he took away at Sutton in the dying minutes of the game !!

There are some who may want to move clubs simply to help with their own moving on from Justin. I could understand that completely.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 1:38 pmI don't believe that this will have happened in the last week.

Re: Bonne to Charlton
The one risk he has is that no one knows if Bowyer is staying. He could be brought in and a new manager comes in and doesn't fancy him. I really hope he makes it.

Re: Bonne to Charlton
I dare say the club had no say in his departure, the only hope was that he felt the club was on a roll and was willing to give it until Christmas,he did say at one point he was looking forward to the season, maybe on a better wage. I guess he saw a long slog ahead and decided to go.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 1:39 pmI have been thinking much the same, looks like after all the excitement and success we have had this season, may be a very hard slog next season and main task could well be to avoid getting relegated again.

A long slog is about right, depends on the quality we bring in.

Re: Bonne to Charlton
Just told my 3 year old the news and he said "ahhh thats a shame" and then carried on playing with his play doh!!
I think we should take a leaf out of his book and move on. It's a loss and I feel that he would have done well in this league with this club, but that is not to be, but we have sold and lost better players than Bonne and we will still do well this season.
I have complete faith in the club and the coaching staff that we will replace with as good if not better.

Re: Bonne to Charlton
I'm assuming from the fact the Bonne transfer was announced today and we're announcing a new signing this afternoon means that this deal has been done for a while and was being delayed a bit due to the Edinburgh situation.

Instead of insults why now engage in dialogue. Or are you too stupid for that.

It’s interesting that my tongue in cheek comment generated a sensible reply and further dialogue with another boarder. Mature people who have an opinion and are willing to engage.Buddy Manucci wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 1:54 pmYou don't really justify dialogue.
You mate need to grow up and stop acting like a five year old. If you don’t want to engage in dialogue with me I won’t lose any sleep over it.

This kind of selfless single mindedness is what we need at the club .

Re: Bonne to Charlton
Bonne was always leaving this summer I think it was part of the agreement to his contract extension and improved terms that he signed. He could have sat tight on his old terms and gone for nothing so both player and club benefitted. His agent could have negotiated a higher signing on fee if He had gone on a free.
in the same way Charlton activated Bonnes buy out fee we did the same with Wilkinson and activated his which is likely to be about £25 or £30k so all in all happy with what we have done.
Sad to see Bonne go but two great seasons a profit a promotion and a good move for the player.
I expect Josh Koroma to move on in the next few days too, replacing him will be interesting but I'm sure we have irons in the fire.

I don't know why people let dohy get to them. He's either properly thick or on a constant wind up; whichever it is, it's not worth getting dragged into anything with him

While I agree with that I still think he will struggle at Championship level but I wish him all the best of luck and I hope he proves a success there .LittleMate wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 1:37 pmYou need to look beyond his goal statistics in saying he was dire after xmas.
