How long did Gray have remaining on his contract when he was sold?eagwgw wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 10:02 amI think Bonne is much at the same stage Andre Gray was when Luton sold him to Brentford. Similar age, unfinished product, unproven in the League with but in National League he scored 1 in 2 over 2 seasons for the biggest team at that level.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 9:48 am Sure it's a bit on the low side but how much do people reckon he's worth?
They got £600k plus a 25% sell-on, so I would be expecting similar. I think that is reasonable considering we haven't even factored inflation in (Gray deal was 2014).

According to that, one year.
Of course, it might reflect that Luton could have been more desperate to hold on to him. Given Nigels comments I am less certain we would turn down money, although I'd hope it's more than £200k.

Re: Nigel Travis statement
The fee would need to be undisclosed owing to league rules, so yes it no doubt would be (though that's not what you meant).

Whatever happens I trust the owners to make the right decisions and to back the DOF with the appropriate players coming in.

Re: Nigel Travis statement
Renaming a road is not that easy. I had an office on a new industrial park in Leeds and the council wanted to rename it Don Revie Way. They ditched the idea because of cost. The problem was that they had compensate companies for costs incurred. This meant that they had to pay for company leaflets, samples, signs etc to be reprinted. My unit was fairly small compared to others but our bill alone was £80,000 some 30 years ago. This shouldn't stop the question being asked if the Club think it's worthwhile but it won't be easy.

Bonne gone, Koroma probably going and Happe possibly off. If they replace Edinburgh with Webb/Embleton, it will be one hell of a long season.

Re: Nigel Travis statement
Would he have stayed ifJustin was still here? Probably and after watching his video sitting the west stand he wasn’t a player going anywhere. Now the unfortunate has happened to Justin I can see more players going, Josh and Dan will both possibly be out the door.
We have moved from a position of strength and positivity to a period of uncertainty and no one likes uncertainty.
The darkness that surrounds our club just got a bit darker.
I’m gutted, frustrated and annoyed at what’s playing out in front of us. I trust the owners to do the right thing, but after losing arguably the best manager we’ve had since Bloomfield, we’ve lost our most prolific striker since Kitchen to boot as well.
We need some good news now.

He did, but I’m thinking internal promotion for Ross whose ML’s mate and with zero management experience, I for one wouldn’t dig that I’m afraid.
Bring back Slade, he’s the short term answer in my opinion.

Re: Nigel Travis statement
Exactly this. We got an extension but it will have been a two way beneficial agreement. We got his goals, promotion and a fee. He gets the chance to move upwards if an offer comes in. To be fair on the club it’s not always possible to dictate terms and I dare say they did the best they could under the circumstances.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 10:25 amTo get him to stay for another year and secure our promotion first.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 10:24 am I dont see why the club would have agreed to such a low release clause.

1st comment get Slade back. Now that I’d agree with.

The only way I can see an internal reshuffling working is giving Jobi the gig and keeping the others in situ.

It’s going to be difficult with the coaching staff stepping up as the players will generally have a different type of reallyionship with them than the manager. Then there needs adjustment from both sides due to the change in position and it’s hard, I don’t envy them that’s for sure.

Don’t you need coaching badges etc to be a manager/coachCreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 3:08 pm The only way I can see an internal reshuffling working is giving Jobi the gig and keeping the others in situ.

Re: Nigel Travis statement
Essentially go from mate to boss, most pros can't deal with it. That's why it rarely works. I hope it works out well but I fear this sentimentality won't turn out very well for the club.Thor wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 3:16 pm It’s going to be difficult with the coaching staff stepping up as the players will generally have a different type of reallyionship with them than the manager. Re: Nigel Travis statement
Why would you give Jobi the gig?
No experience at management level being a captain is completely different
Danny Webb has the experience he did ok under a lot of pressure last time round and is a no nonsense guy just like JE he knows the players how the club works etc
For me Danny with Ross at his side
Jobi and Brill can still be mentors etc
