Re: Ratings.
Far better performance today against a decent side who possibly deserved something from today’s game.
The shot that hit the inside , on another day it goes in and it’s 1-1 and a totally different game.
Kemp seems to improve with every game and looks to be a really good signing........well done Martin Ling.
On the other hand, DJ probably needs a break as he looks increasingly frustrated, and maybe Abrahams deserves a start for the next game.
I think the most positive thing for me on today’s performance was the fact we actually created chances and had far more shots on target than for ages.
Good to see Brophy back and the play offs are at least a possibility if the current run of form continues.
Jobi must think this managing game is a piece of cake LOL

I think Thompson has broken his ankle ? If so, than a bad injury to get over, time will tell if he does make a full recovery, hopefully he will. Thompson is ( judging by his past injury record ) a rather injury prone player so do not place too much on him playing next season without missing some games along the way.MungOgogo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 6:32 pmThompson will be fit in the summer . He & Turley will be injured at some point next season . We can dream about Tunji signing full time at best . Never say Never though .

Spot on Sid,as a pro footballer who would you take more notice of,someone who’s never hardly played or someone who’s been there done it at the highest level and has a lot of experience. Why did Embleton stay so long? Jobs for the boys I’m afraid to say yet again.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:34 pmWell as for Ross, his tactics and selections, well the difference is that now we have people in charge who have played football and know what they are doing. Never rated Ross as Boss and a mystery to me as to how he remained in the job for so long. Jobi/Danny was a good partnership in waiting, so they have got their chance now to show what they can do so hope it works out well for them and if so, then of course good for Leyton Orient. Perhaps if Cisse is unavailable through injury next game, then Hector can come in to replace his and will be a big blow if in form Wilkinson misses our next game and if he does miss out, then I am guessing that Jobi or Dennis will come in to replace him.Thor wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 5:31 pm Hot shot hamish now there’s a blast from the past.
Turley was once again awesome, just goes to show how shortsighted you can become and blinkered when selecting a team. Deserves his place and long may that continue.
Also Cisse deserves 7.5 and Clay a 7 they worked their backsides off today and Jobi said of Cisse I don’t know how he played the last game let alone today. That’s commitment.

It's been explained to you several times that you don't necessarily have needed to have played football to have been a good manager, so why do you keep going on about people knowing football because they played the game professionally?Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:34 pmWell as for Ross, his tactics and selections, well the difference is that now we have people in charge who have played football and know what they are doing. I started playing football when I was around 7 years old, was a good footballer but after a bad injury in my early twenties, the flame burned inside me to form my own team, managed them to much success and they got better as we moved onto higher leagues and ended up as a team playing for me that had ex pros and an England amateur youth international who had been on the books of Crystal Palace, got married and after ten years got a job where i was very involved especially at week ends so I passed my team onto others to run, enough said.

Yeah, good job those Arsenal players paid no attention to Arsene Wenger when he was winning all those trophies and the Porto, Chelsea and Internazionale players didn't bother listening to Mourinho because he'd played fewer than 100 games at a low standard.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 10:05 pmSpot on Sid,as a pro footballer who would you take more notice of,someone who’s never hardly played or someone who’s been there done it at the highest level and has a lot of experience. I thought Clay and Cisse gave their middle of park players too much room . Many times when they passed inside their midfield were allowed to run at us. Cisse does not get stuck in enough and offen his passing is wayward. Clay does a lot of running but should have given Akinola more help in dealing with their tricky winger.EliotNes wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 5:28 pm About right above, except I thought Clay & Cisse worked their socks off in midfield. They were here, there and everywhere as the expression goes and broke up Oldham's midfield advances and attacks. I don't think it was a coincidence that Oldham scored straight after Cisse was subbed.

Re: Ratings.
Johnson is a well marked man . I think he. Needs someone like Harrold beside him for lay offs. He is not a good header of the ball and when he plays alone he is easy to mark out of the game. He is a poacher in the box but does not get the service he deserves. That said he works hard with little reward.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 5:59 pm Vigoroux - 6 - not much to do, no chance for the goal

Widdowson - 6 - had a more difficult second half but prefer him being at LB
Cissé - 7 - Jobi seemed to have solved the conundrum today, looked a lot more lively before going off with injury
Clay - 6 - put in a shift but thought he struggled second half
Kemp - 8 - MOTM performance, great goal
Brophy - 7 - a constant threat, puts the LB vs attacking argument to bed
Wilkinson - 7 - great finish for the goal

McAnuff - 6 - probably didn't want to have play today, got a bit caught for their goal
Dennis - 6 - saw the game out
Abrahams - 6 - as per Dennis
McAnuff (Manager) - 7 - got us playing with attacking football today, who needs possession when you're peppering the opposition goal and scoring
Also good to see Dean Cox on the panel, more of that please.

As to Ross, well he, along with others at the club, did a good job in steadying the ship after Justin's tragic death but was never really suited to be the man in charge. It did not work out, so time to move on now.

Re: Ratings.
Re DJ, thought he worked hard yesterday.
It was his harassment of the defender that led to the defender doing the bad back pass that led to Wilko’s goal, something that doesn’t seem to have been picked up.
Agree re Dan Kemp, he’s looking a real find now he’s settled in.
A quality player, well done O’s/ML on signing him.
Be good to have Hector available for Easter.

Looks like we’re set up to press higher. Both goals yesterday came from capitalising on their errors. We also went close when Clay robbed their bloke in their own half then set DJ away.moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 10:53 pmI thought Clay and Cisse gave their middle of park players too much room . The downside of that is sometimes the full backs will be left one on one, or the midfield will be outnumbered. It’s a gamble that’s paying off at the moment (Exeter excluded).

Yep. When they broke through our initial high press, we looked pretty exposed. But the gamble proved to be worth it.

Except that despite us being exposed, as suggested, they only managed a couple of shots on target. Akinola apart, who had a torrid first half, i thought we defended well and even Wilko got back to help out at times.
Up front I though we looked more dangerous in open play than we have for much of the season. The extended highlights show just how well their keeper played. Don’t recall LV having too much to do throughout the 90.

Like others on this forum, I take no instructions from anyone as to what to say and what not to say and likewise I would never instruct anyone else as to what they should or shouldn't write in their comments.
Seems though like some of the Ross cheer leaders on here took it hard to accept him going and are still fighting his cause.
Lastly I notice your assumed name only joined a few weeks ago yet already pitching in like a long time regular.............say no more !

Personally Sid I wouldn’t rise to it, I’ve only been on here a short while and already worked out that there are a few on here that would argue with a corpse in a phone box just for a reaction, sure we are all have a point of view but some just take it to the next level for what ever reason. We are all entitled to our opinion and right or wrong. I’m with you on Ross but I appreciate that others liked him.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 2:56 pmLike others on this forum, I take no instructions from anyone as to what to say and what not to say and likewise I would never instruct anyone else as to what they should or shouldn't write in their comments.

Jobi also knows how to set a team up and make the best of the players available to him in the squad.
Jobi and Danny Senda are a good team and let us hope the better form ( and luck ! ) continues !
