Newport County at home would be an emotional start.

Yes please ! 1 in 46 chance i suppose. I would settle for Newport County away ! If this happens the M4 would be clogged that day with O's fans that's for sure.

Yes, 1 in 46. Edited as my maths was wrong before.

Exactly how I feel, should have been excitement and anticipation but now complete sadness.

Life goes on, its the way of things and everyone has got to move on.
Fans, players and management need to pull together and get ready for next season.
I just want a home game, get the tributes done and hopefully start with a win.

Found the programme the other week for the first game back in Div 2 in 70/71
Sheffield United 3-1, big crowd and just as excited 50 years on
Travel for the away game at Blackburn on the coach was 36 shillings, all of £1.80 today.

It really needs to be a home fixture in the circumstances I think.

Feels like we've had a huge % of away fixtures to start the season. Can only really remember Barnet at home in 2015 in the last 5-10 years...maybe chesterfield as well in 2014 but cant remember if that was the first game. Thats about it.

Just checked soccerbase because that sounded ridiculous but you’re spot on - just those 2 out of the last 10.

To be honest I can't remember, you could well be right because a Lazarus lap of honour does spring to mind

Whats the stats like? Cant remember winning many of them.

From memory...the ones i went to...
18/19 - Salford - Draw
17/18 - Sutton - Lost
16/17 - Cheltenham - Draw
15/16 - Barnet - Win
14/15 - Chesterfield - Lost
13/14 - Carlisle - Win

Cant remember the order of the year but also remember Walsall (lost), Tranmere (lost) and Yeovil (lost)

That would be amazing albeit statistically unlikely. If away just a short hop from Cardiff for me.
I hope we get a home game & a bumper crowd- 7000.

Your right, remember that as well, he disappeared into the West Side Stand as well, think we kicked off after second goal with him still lapping up the adoration.

Dunno. I guess first games stick in the mind and I went to most of them. Things like getting hammered in Liverpool and then having to watch Michael symes run against tranmere, the day after, very hungover, just stick with you.

Could well have been. Although I did see him score a very rare goal in that game, albeit a pen when we were 3-0 down.
