Ryan Giggs

Post by Thor »

It would appear from press reports that the players are not happy with Mr Giggs and his methods of management. One of the key issues appears to be the way he communicates with the players or lack of. He has 10 players still in the squad which reached the semi finals in 2016 and now they are floundering in 4th place out of 5 in their group.

In my opinion he has done nothing to justify being a manager or an international one at that. Yes he had a stellar career of that there’s no doubt, but he always came across before he was appointed of being owed a top position, never interested in building his reputation up at a lower level or proven that he is worthy.

Finally trust must be an issue in the dressing room, as whilst his private life is exactly that, I’d find it hard as a player to be able to trust him after what he did to his brother. If you can do that to your own flesh and blood, what would you be prepared to do against anyone else?

It would seem that the end is nigh for him as it would appear he’s losing the dressing room already.

...Good at kicking a ball and running after it, and sneaking around being an odious, deceitful, toad; but these qualities do not a manager make.

Allied to his no doubt mind-numbing team talks and apparent charisma bypass, the Welsh FA must have been mad to think this would work.

As with most of the class of 92, they seem to feel a god given right to be managers at the top level without going through the learning curve at lower league level.

Top players do not always make top managers. How many of the class of 92 have gone on to be a top manager?

Most of the class of 92? Didn't only Giggs and Gary Neville go in at the top level?

Beckham - never shown the slightest interest in coaching
G Neville - assistant coach with England before his Valencia debacle
P Neville - few years as a coach with England u-21s, Utd and Valencia before the England Women's job
Scholes - Oldham (briefly)
Giggs - coach at Utd, caretaker at Utd, Wales job
Butt - coach at Utd, now Academy Director.

So yeah, plenty of roles taken up at Man Utd but not exactly sure the above claim wholly stacks up.

That was woeful, if a manager gave that team talk to me, I’d be thinking “what the f is he on about, clueless”. He didn’t come across as someone you’d “want” to play for and bust a gut for.

As a Gog, the majority of boys I know didn’t want him near the Welsh job. The Taffia down south wanted him so that’s what we got unfortunately. Total waste of time & most of us can’t wait for him to **** off back to Manchester.

I learnt something tonight Wrex, I had to look up GOG, now I know. It’s a shame really as since the sad passing of Gary Speed and the work he started the Welsh national team has made some really good progress, unfortunately it seems like they are regressing under Giggs.

Aye, us Gogs are from North Wales (Gogledd Cymru), Taffies are from the South Wales (river Taff in Cardiff), we are quite distinct people in a lot of respects. They’re sneaky, we arent!
I was thinking about Gary Speed in respect of Justin Edinburgh the other day, both extremely sad losses.
As for Giggs, the guy is not very well liked due to his times at Man U, he always seemed to have a knock when Wales games came around & as if by magic he was fit for the weekend when Utd wanted him to play.
Can’t imagine him inspiring anyone, as someone previously mentioned.
I wouldn’t forgive him if he wore a hair shirt & walked the length of Offas Dyke with it!
