Ratings.

Vigouroux. 6.5. Nothing much to do.
Akinola. 8. Mom. Solid as a rock in a position that he he sometimes struggles with.
Happe. 7.5. After a string of shockers he got some of his mojo back.
Turley. 7.5. Strong and no nonsense.
Widdowson. 6.5. Nothing to cause him any headaches.
Cisse 5. No coincidence that after he went off our tempo upped considerably. Waste of a shirt.
Clay. 7. Completely awful first half and a worldie in the second. About time he added some value.
Macanuff. 7. Good to have him back. Worked hard if nothing outstanding.
Kemp. 7.5. Has a lovely touch and one great strike. Also worked his nuts off
Wilkinson. 6.5. Tap in goal. Waving his arms about at Kemp after he had a great shot. If he sorted his attitude out he would be a far better player.
Johnson. 6. Forgot he was playing.

Subs. Hector. 7. Has to start.

Newport. 5. Got worse as the game went on.

Ref. 5. Booked a Newport player for a perfectly good tackle. Obviously got a new pen and notebook for Christmas.

Macanuff. 7.5. Done there homework and completely snuffed out Newport. Well done Jobi!

I really think Kemp could be a very good player for us over the next couple of seasons. Likes to get forward, works hard, eye for goal. And, unlike some people on here, I think Widdowson is a solid, reliable left back at League 2 level. Not the greatest at getting forward but you can't have everything. Hector should start in midfield over Cisse in my book.

We were good for the first 15 minutes when we pressed high and then, as Bera says, dropped deep for the rest of the half, lumping it long. We came out in the second half and pressed and pressed. Kemp was my MoM as he was all over the pitch and showed so much composure. Hector made a big difference when he came on (look at the build up to the goal, turning into space and passing to Widdowson). Cisse, on another day would have got himself sent off in the first half.

I don't want to get carried away, Flynn screwed up making 4 changes in 10 minutes, McAnuff can't do both jobs and Cisse will get to keep his place. However, two wins and two draws from his first five games ain't bad.

Kemp looks the sort of player you could build a team around. Has it all, great shot, good cross, works really hard without any fuss and histrionics.

Surely not a coincidence that when our “manager” goes back to being a player we get a decent result.

Imagine how well we’d do if we actually had a manager.

He is going to be good for us. Proper player.

His corners are terrible and need work on.

So you would deprive a good and loyal player the opportunity to move into management just so he could play in the last 10 games of the season! Maybe his last ever 10 games as a player. Such gratitude.

If we went for a new manager that would take at least 4 weeks, by which time the season would be finished for us anyway.

Bit of a selfish attitude!

Anyone with half a brain knows that Jobi was given the “manager” job because he happens to be the oldest/most experienced player.

A cheap and risk free option.

First Ross, now Jobi, given an “opportunity” which is just the board refusing to replace Justin with an actual football manager.

Jobi’s managed us to 8 points from 5 games, so I don’t quite feel ready to write him off as an inadequate cheap option just yet.

The position we were in, it was well worth the gamble of putting Jobi in charge with Danny as his number 2.
Jobi is a likable guy, has charisma, is respected by the Club, players and fans alike. He has a wealth of playing experience and has played in the top leagues of the EFL, I really hope he does well for the Os.

The thing I find strange is how the team rely on a 39 year old to make team tick. Sad really. Just goes to show how bad it is🙈

Agree Sid, well worth a gamble.
He will be a fool if he takes the job without full control,
That means giving Ling a very very shortlist of players he wants to keep for next season.
If the club can’t agree with this then I expect him to turn it down.

Anybody with a quarter of a brain would realise that experienced businessmen who have put in millions of their own money to buy the club, them millions more to keep it going are very unlikely to be phased by hiring a 3k a week manager. That is ludicrous beyond belief. Try engaging the grey matter. You really think they are looking for cheap options! Laughable. 🤡🤡🤡

Well the evidence doesn’t support that.
It is pretty obvious they are not going to pay serious money for a L2 manager.
It’s not just the salary it’s the whole cost of employing one.
I think they have a limit and that is it.
If you are really ambitious then you do what Al Fayed did at Fulham and get a top manager who will attract the best players.
I think this is a little hobby and L1 is their limit.

The evidence is they are doing what they think is right for the club. It may or may not turn out that way. We all know there are no guarantees in football and if you look at some other clubs, appointing experienced managers is no guarantee either.

I honestly feel they are doing what they feel is right. The wage cost involved is not part of their deliberations. They are not looking for the cheap option. The cheap option would be not to buy the club in the first place.

It’s amazingly insulting to accuse people putting in serious money of being cheap. Not to mention being amazingly stupid. Evidence. How much are they investing. Manager wages is small beer in the great scheme of things.

For me Akinola makes such a difference despite being in his less preferred position. Mobile, gets forward, has pace.

But what I find more amazing in Turley. Been really good. Solid. How comes he couldn’t even make the bench before. And could do a job at RB. He seems to gravitate to that role naturally. I’d offer him a new contract at RB

Makes me wonder why he was left out on the cold.
