Oh podcast guys good show really enjoyed it, thank you to Travis for putting yourself out once more and hopefully a few more knuckle draggers will finally get what you are trying to do.

Really enjoying reading some of the feedback on here. The one about MH career choice and this one made me lol.

Glad we were able to bring an insightful interview and show to fellow Orient fans. Hope it’s helped anyone who had concerns or unanswered questions.

Having a pop at people on message boards because they have a different opinion to you seems rather petty.

Don’t flatter yourself either, we comment on all things good bad an indifferent, nothing was personal to you. And to be honest we don’t read this MB regularly enough to know the views of everyone, our views are mostly taken from Twitter.

This is how committees work. Each person will bring their own personal expertise and viewpoint. The expertise Ling brings is is knowledge of football in general and players in particular. He will the the one recommending names, in and out.

The rest of the committee will question, in a positive way, and correctly so, the whys and wherefores of his views and in the case of the existing squad maybe throwin some names of their own.

But as DoF Ling is the expert, prepared to explain his views, be challenged. But ultimately unless the committee can come up with good reason, Ling’s expertise will carry the day.

Is Ling an expert though?

Just because you've been doing something a long time doesn't mean you're any good at it.

I don't know him, and have no personal beef with him, but his record is average at best. Even as O's manager you could make a case that it was Dean Smith who was doing the heavy lifting based on their subsequent careers.

He's done a stellar job of convincing the owners that he is some sort of footballing oracle, but I'm not convinced. He knows he's onto a good thing with owners based overseas, but there's nothing there to suggest he has the ability to match our owners ambition.

I don’t think the owners see him as an oracle. They rely on his expertise as they a) don’t have a footballing background / connections themselves and b) live in America.

If the owners weren’t happy with him, he wouldn’t still be here. Yeah he may end up not being able to take us to where the owners want to be, and his time may come to an end as a result, but so far he’s hired arguably our best manager ever, his signings have been more good than bad and we’ve improved our league position each year.

He hasn’t got everything right but I don’t see how you can argue with the value he’s brought to the club as dof

The first 40-45 mins is Nigel, it’s part of our whole podcast which is why the orange bar you mentioned didn’t move much as 15 mins isn’t long.

Create some positive threads and counter any criticism with positive arguments then. There’s a reason there’s a lot of criticism at he moment. Although a lot of it is unjustified.

Couldn’t imagine it was like this under Barry.
He gave the manager a budget and if he cocked it up he sacked him.
All very simple.
What is the point of having a “ expert” if you are going to question everything.

Because that is exactly the correct thing to do. Questioning is not doubting nor criticising. Simply good management.
