The announcement said an appointment was immanent so it sounds like we've been identifying the replacement for some time already.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 6:48 pm We’re all forgetting the process. We need to invite applications and Martin needs to have a chat to everyone

As a basic criteria someone who is not currently employed at the club.

But Jobi would have to give up all his presenting. I can't see how he'd juggle it.
Can you do both? They both seem pretty all or nothing.
Anyway I'd rather someone with some League experience.

In so far as it goes but that includes a lot of managers that I wouldn't want anywhere near the club.Tent Keague wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 6:51 pm But Jobi would have to give up all his presenting. I can't see how he'd juggle it.

Ian Holloway, anyone? Not entirely convinced myself but he does love London and plays good football.

I would not be surprised if Ross had already said the club should appoint a new manager before today. Whether its an internal or external appt I have no idea. I guess one of the issues with appointing internally is how much of that person's input has been reflected in recent performances. Certainly I would expect that the Owners/Directors would have been concerned, not just with the current poor run but when we lost 3 in a row earlier.

Haven't been impressed by his career as a mangerEat The Rich wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 6:44 pm Chris Powell is a good shout. I think he's working at the Spurs academy at the moment so shouldn't be too difficult to get. It would also be cool to be the first club to have a black manager, a black assistant and a black first tam coach.

Re: Who do we want as new manger
That is a perceptive comment. It would be almost impossible to discuss the position with Senda behind Ross’s back. Makes their relationship impossible. Not good form either.Harlow wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 6:56 pm I would not be surprised if Ross had already said the club should appoint a new manager before today. But that would not be the case with Jobi. Travis rates Jobi and could well have private what-if discussions with him. That does not affect Ross, his team selection or tactics.
But of course Travis may have spoken to neither, speak with both over the weekend and come to a conclusion next week. Senda will of course take over as caretaker until an appointment is made.
Who knows. Travis may have been having what-if chats with people for a while. Just in case! Continuity planning.

Preferably a manger who has won one or more promotions in his career - though I'd take Russell back. This squad just needs motivating IMO and he was a motivator.

Rumour here in deepest, darkest Suffolk is he'll be taking Paul Lambert's job when these new American (again) investors buy Ipswich, which again is "imminent".jamespevans wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 8:35 pm Whilst we are tilting at windmills, how about Paul Cook
Not that he'd come here but I'd take Paul Lambert, he'd motivate our squad, but sure as hell clash with the DoF as well.

Re: Who do we want as new manger
Tisdale would be my choice but suspect he won't be an option. Really can't be arsed with this interim til end of season approach. We'll have a slightly above average end to the season, people will call for the interim to stay on and we'll be in this position again next year.
