Maybe, but with four days until the game it’s not likely to look like that when play gets under way. Hopefully it will be a decent pitch where winning the toss isn’t the same as winning the game and we can have a decent exciting game of cricket.

My bet is by Wednesday they will have taken all the grass off the pitch, it would have dried out under three days of sun and spin on day one.

England win the toss and bat. Pitch hasn’t been watered by the look of it and is going to turn the only questions are by how much and how soon, the other unknowns are the pink ball which has been swinging in practice and will there be any dew in the final session under lights that will help the quicker bowlers.

Root took the sensible and safest option batting but it’s going to be tough.

2-1 Sibley gone for a duck.....enterJonny Bairstow.

Spinner on in the sixth over and gets Bairstow LBW for another duck with his first ball, pitch not to blame Bairstow missed a straight one.

This doesn’t look good 27-2.over to you captain Root.

Can’t blame the pitch for either dismissal Tuffers. Poor technique from the batsmen I’m afraid.

So first hour done and while both wickets were down to the batsman there is going to be plenty in this wicket. Already Root rapped on the gloves by a ball that bounced off a length from no where and the left arm spinner turned one past Crawleys bat turned that bounced alarmingly considering it’s the eleventh over of the test match.

51-2 Crawley playing beautifully.

Misjudgement by Root going too far across, could have done without that if Root doesn’t get in the runs England usually fail. Crawley gone now 80-4. This has got 150 all out written all over it.

Tea Break England 81-4 India’s morning, 300 would be a good total on here but Unless Stokes goes mad and Pope and Foakes can hang around I can’t see how we are getting there.

Lunch and once again the openers are not producing enough runs by a country mile. Too much pressure on the middle and lower order to get the runs and then take the wickets. It's like watching Essex in a championship match.

Crawley played well but Sibley needs to go away and sort his technique out, problem is there isn’t much coming through in the opening department. Also highlights lack of experience in these conditions. I would like to see Stokes counter attack now.

81-6 Stokes gone with a whimper.

Well always best to wait until both sides have batted but I can’t see India being timid when they bat, I think they will bat aggressively and try and bat only once. India are a far better side in these conditions tbf.

Oh dear 93-7.

Great that we'll be out just as we get to the prime batting conditions. And 6 out of 7 wickets to the spinners, so we should do really well with the spin options we selected today.
