Could be because he knows how to win games and has little Fleetwood in the top half of League One. Maybe.

Re: Joey Barton Having Collar Felt Again.
This is being reported in the press today, in respect to the earlier arguments concerning contempt of court it’s interesting that the police actually speak about people speculating.
In the statement, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson added: 'Officers investigating an incident at Barnsley Football Club on Saturday have arrested a man on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault.
'The man attended at a police station and was arrested today, Wednesday 17 April. He remains in police custody for questioning.
'We would ask members of the media and the public to refrain from speculation in relation to this incident as it could potentially harm the investigation.
'Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.'

I’ll exercise my right to free speech and speculate all I want. I believe that the nasty thug Barton is guilty of all charges and hope they chuck the book at him. I have no evidence against him but his previous record of violence leads me to believe that he’s likely to be guilty on this occasion.Thor wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 7:40 am This is being reported in the press today, in respect to the earlier arguments concerning contempt of court it’s interesting that the police actually speak about people speculating.

Note also no mention of name of person arrested.
Clearly supports exactly what I said about reporting even before someone has been charged

I hope Barton gets the book thrown at him. I reckon he's guilty of all charges. He's a nasty thug.spen666 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 10:40 amThor wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 7:40 am This is being reported in the press today, in respect to the earlier arguments concerning contempt of court it’s interesting that the police actually speak about people speculating.

Re: Joey Barton Having Collar Felt Again.
Spen,
you are both wrong and confused.
Today you write:
"Note also no mention of name of person arrested.
Clearly supports exactly what I said about reporting even before someone has been charged"
This latest posting contradicts two of your earlier ones. On Sunday 14th, at 6:32, you wrote,
"..as there is allegedly a police investigation and a named suspect.."
On the same date, at 8:35, you said,
"..what can be reported when there is an active investigation with a named suspect."
So, on Sunday, you say the suspect was named but today, you say he isn't.
Please clarify.

Baz, are you suggesting our spen just makes things up as he goes along to ensure maximum contrariness? What a terrible accusation.

Do you deliberately try to be so ignorant?
There is now a named suspect as in the person identified in the police investigation. The person who the police are investigating.
He can currently not be named in reporting since he was formerly identified.
Tell you what though...you have it your way. You carry on
I know the law. I can and have provided you the evidence to support my case in the relevant statutes .
I am happy to put my 4 decades working as both a defence and prosecution lawyer up against you....what? ability to paste unidentified sources from the internet
Try googling the Contempt of Courts Act 1981 for the legislation that covers this. You could also look at the guidelines the BBC or Channel 4 provide which again confirm that I am correct
You still have not provided and statutory basis for your claims. Random quotes for unidentified sources are not the law of the land

I'm trying hard not to 'suggest' or 'accuse' Spen of anything. I am merely pointing out that he is wrong.

Re: Joey Barton Having Collar Felt Again.
Spen,
1) You haven’t explained your contradictory statements. What the situation is now, after Barton’s arrest, is not the same situation as prevailed prior to his arrest on Sunday. One of the thresholds that I drew your attention to (Schedule 1 Section 2, 4 (a)) had not been reached when you posted your ‘warning’.
2) You have not provided any ‘evidence to support your case’. Your references to the Contempt of Court Act, 1981, negate your argument.
3) “You still have not provided and statutory basis for your claims. Random quotes for unidentified sources are not the law of the land”
I have directed your attention to Schedule 1, Section 2, 4 (a), of the Contempt of Court Act, 1981. That, most assuredly, is the law of the land.

Re: Joey Barton Having Collar Felt Again.
Hi, Thor,
As you’ve asked, I’m happy to tell you that my ‘legal skills’ (such as they are) consist only of vocational (on the job) qualifications and 18 years experience working alongside solicitors, Paralegals, and trial lawyers.
I have no ‘professional qualifications’ in law. I’m not a lawyer and never have been. I’m now retired, by the way.

As he seems to be a danger to society that's not such a bad idea.West Side Story wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 10:02 am Perhaps it is time to have a Joey Barton Watch thread.

If he's found guilty, will Fleetwood be required to sack him?

No
They may choose to sack him, but no legal requirement to do so
