Gateshead relegated Aldershot stay up !!

Sorry if already posted , Gateshead have been relegated tothe National league North , Aldershot now stay up and Oxford City are now in the National league South instead of North according to BBC Sport , all due to Gatesheads finacial doings .

Seeing our the National League were going to sling them out altogether (so down to step 3 at least), that’s not a terrible compromise for them at the summer AGM Cup. Lots of localish derbies and planning to stay full time under new ownership. Hope they can stabilise now, although that athletics track remains a terrible ground for them, and seems soulless with only a thousand or so it.

Pretty shoddy that they've been relegated for - again - the actions of an owner who wasn't 'fit' nor 'proper' but as slacks said, could've been worse. Hope they bounce back asap.

Also shoddy that the position wasn’t clear before the end of the season. All four were relegated pretty early and would have made different decisions on lineup and how they approached games if they knew.

Decent football team at non league level good fans as well I feel for them could of so easily been Orient had T&T not stepped in count our blessings

The decision is a strange one.

They were fined & docked 9 points for financial irregularities.

They were suspended from NL as they had no ground/ business plan for coming season.

They sorted out ground & business plan so should either retain place in NL or be relegated to NPL if NL not satisfied.

The one step relegation has no logic to it... Except it prevents Truro being reinstated to NLS ( if Gateshead went to step 3 Truro would have been reprieved)

Of course Truro are massively out on a limb and NLS clubs happy to lose them.

Shades of the old re election farces that saw Barrow, Workington & ironically Gateshead thrown out of league in favour of clubs easier to travel to
