Viva Palestina
It seems the charity set up by Scotland’s finest, the ex-radio presenter, George Galloway, is being accused of irregularities and improper conduct by the Charities Commission. It seems there is a suggestion that the £1 million plus amount raised, which was not to help fund terrorism, but purely for aid convoys, may not have reached its target.
Dear oh dear.
Are there any boarders who may have previously announced working for the loveable chap able to shed any light on this sorry state of affairs?

Whilst we should be surprised at such actions, it once again goes to prove you just can’t trust anyone can you? They don’t call him dodgy George for nothing.

Re: Viva Palestina
Your story is inaccurate. He supported the setting up of Viva Palestina but did not set it up nor was he a trustee or office bearer of the charity . You need to get your facts right before you criticise an innocent man.A man known for his litigious nature.Disoriented wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 9:31 pm It seems the charity set up by Scotland’s finest, the ex-radio presenter, George Galloway, is being accused of irregularities and improper conduct by the Charities Commission. I have reported your post to him and it looks like you will be feeding his insatiable appetite for free money.
I seem to recall in the 80s when he was at War on Want there was some sort of money based scandal.

Can't say he's very litigious, as you will soon find out when you're forced to cough up in court for making your libellous remarks.Disoriented wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 10:10 pmWhat was this scandal?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 10:00 pmYour story is inaccurate. Re: Viva Palestina
From 1983 to 1987, George Galloway was General Secretary of War on Want. The Daily Mirror accused Galloway of living luxuriously at the charity's expense. An independent auditor cleared him of misuse of funds, though he did repay £1,720 in contested expenses.[4] The official history of the charity says that Galloway's methods of management created interpersonal problems among the staff, and although the charity grew under Galloway, his period in charge was followed by a serious internal crisis.[4]
More than two years after Galloway stepped down as general secretary after being elected as a Labour MP, the British Government's Charity Commission investigated War on Want, finding accounting irregularities including that the financial reports were "materially mis-stated"[4] from 1985 to 1989, but little evidence that money was used for non-charitable purposes. Galloway had been general secretary for the first three of those years. The commission said responsibility lay largely with auditors and did not single out individuals for blame. War on Want was found to have been insolvent, and subsequently dismissed all its staff and went into administration. It was rescued and relaunched in 1991.

I thought you were one of the few on here with a sense of fair play and justice. It seems I was very wrong.
Disco can't go around making untrue statements about an extremely litigious but ultimately innocent man. There is a penalty under English Law for doing that I'm merely acting as a concerned citizen.

Today's Guardian Newspaper reports on the story
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... -donations
One point to note is that the current report is into what the trustees did or didn't do. Galloway was not a trustee at the relevant times
