He also got dengue fever, which is probably too heavy a price for a vitamin d overload.
Ah well, he came home and ran a successful company. Did so well that he managed to retire to Spain. That dengue fever really stopped him.

Fair play to the bloke for his life but he ain’t Princess Diana and the reaction to his death is utterly bizarre.
People found a positive rallying point at a very dark time and he's one of a shrinking pool of ww2 vets. I get that there's an overreaction but seems odd to be contrary about him.

Anyway, if you're gonna be, think you're on firmer ground knocking him for this Barbados trip.
I’m not, I just don’t get why he’s seen as such a martyr for walking around his garden.

He was 100, he can do what he likes. More concerned that he died with his family around him whilst hundreds die alone a day

People become popular for all sorts of small acts that go on to be much bigger than themselves. I don't know what the name of the Chinese bloke who stood in front of a tank was but really all he did was cross a road into incoming traffic. Joan of arc just got burned alive, which was even more of a doddle than walking around a garden at 99 years old.

Hobbling round your, admittedly very, very large garden of your lovely mansion isn’t quite the same as standing in front of a tank as the Chinese government pull out all the stops to quell a protest now, is it?

Doddering round your outsize garden is a piece of piss.

I'd have more respect for him if he'd done a couple of laps around the Broadmead Estate after 8pm. Soon found out how quick he really was.

No, you're right, the Chinese fella only had to walk a couple of yards whilst carrying his shopping home. Doesn't even have a no.1 single. Nowhere near the same level of hero.

According to Wikipedia he walked 270 yards / day. I am prepared to do double that, provided you guys nominate me for a Peerage ( Marquis ) would be suitable and a record contract ( humming Tijuana Taxi )

I was going to, but there weren't any news crews to broadcast it, and no-one around to see my performance, so I saved my energy.

Instead, I'll honour him by vowing to only vote for politicians that I think will fund the NHS properly so we don't have to rely on charity.

The hospitals that I have attended in the last few months have had signs up saying that visitors are allowed for ‘end of life’ patients.

I’m one of them and think the bloke is a fanny for that. At worst, the clap is patriotic bollocks. No white supremist. Pipe down.
