It appears that nearly every goal conceded is blamed on this lad and I really think there needs to be some level thinking here.

From the games I have watched in the last few seasons, i think the out of possession play has been poor, our shape is shocking, our recovery is slow. Justin managed this very well, he was a defender after all, but since then we have gone back to our old ways.

From what I have seen;

Coulson is not fit enough at this level any more
Happe needs a clever brain next too him
Widdowsopn out of possession play is poor
Brophy is not naturally a full back
Clay out of possession is a liability

I think Ross is fully aware that the defence is his priority and this doesn’t happen overnight - he will make tweaks all season and as long as we stay up, then he can continue to build in the future

Myles Judd has gone on loan and for good reasons - and only Ross will know this, but he can only have done it for the best of Orient

But, and i guess this is my main point, Sam Ling is a pro footballer, like it or not, and he must be trying his best. He is 24, and will have access to social media and be very aware of the witch hunt that he is the subject of. I’ve seen Coulson make some horrendous errors and not be as castigated as Ling has been, and I suppose this makes me wonder if some or all of the criticism is because of who is dad is.

Anyhow, I may have rambled, so i end this now, and I apologise for the rant.

Something I think about at these times, is that Sam’s dad has a history of depression, and if Sam is struggling also, the last thing this young boy needs is constant abuse. It’s very easy to slaughter someone, but we need to realise they are human beings, with feelings.

And, just as a redress, and in case any of you are wondering, no, I’m not martin, in fact, I am not his biggest fan in any way shape or form - but that’s another rant.

But i have played the game, and I am a qualified coach - and I have learnt lots about getting the best out of people.
I respect your views but when so many of the this forum repeatedly say that Ling is not good enough for this league then something must be wrong. This is not just single games but nearly every week he is not performing and costing us goals. RE has to look at replacing both full backs Trying to make Brophy into an attacking full back and constantly changing as to how he should play is a mistake. Our back 4 is simply not good enough and hopefully bringing in this new CB that reportably can play in several positions could be a step in the right directions

Saw it yesterday, Dayton says along the lines of "how can you judge me from a couple of starts in 2 seasons" followed by "if you think I'm not up to standard come down to the training ground and have a watch"

Dayton is arguably the only player we have left who can deliver a decent cross but Embleton done him no favours playing him as a CM

What absolute rubbish to say that players don't read what's written about them on these message boards. It's human nature to want to see something nice written about you. If you know you've had a stinker you would obviously avoid such forums. But to come on here and think you done a good days work and then see unjustified trash written by some unthinking idiots, must be very demoralising. Especially if they are racially motivated or for some reason have a grudge against your pa. Time for keyboard warriors to get a life.

Unjustified trash? Keyboard warriors?

Lets have it right. A lot of us have given the club over £300 for nothing. That money goes to paying players’ wages. If we feel they’re playing sh*t, we have the right to talk about it. I’d never DM players with abuse and anyone doing that or being abusive to them are scumbags.

Did I say that? No. Every fan is entitled to criticise anything at the club. Whether it’s performance or how hot the Bovril is in the ground. My money is going into the pockets of these players and staff, I can say whatever the f*** I want about how good or sh*t they are.

Yeah, because giving a critical analysis of someone’s performance is the same as going into their DMs and calling them a fanny and are a disgrace to their profession. Clown.

Christ. He’s hardly been abusive. Dayton should not have responded.

Dayton has been pony for yonks but you’re right, he is being played out of position in those rare appearances he has made.
