What I don't get is that a fair percentage of Londoners over 80 have not had the vaccine but plenty of people under 70 with no health issues have had there's 🤔🤔

Totally.

You see people in their 40s and 50s bragging about having received it and it just make you sick. Them having it means a vulnerable 80 year old hasn’t been able to yet. 😡

They were vaccinating 70+s at Brisbane Road a couple of weeks ago. I assume they've done most of the 80s on their books.

I suspect some of it may be to do with what supplies of the Pfizer vaccine a particular location has left, since it only has a limited shelf life. There were press stories a few weeks ago about vaccination centres being told to destroy unused vaccine rather than use it on other groups than the target but I suspect that was shelved as it makes no sense - except to create a bit of a postcode lottery.

Total number of positive tests down 29% in the last week, Number of Covid patients being admitted to hospital has fallen 11% in the Seven days, Still not seeing much reduction on seriously ill patients on ventilators numbers have been up and down this week only reduced by 16 in a week. Will be a while yet before we see any real progress in hospitals.
Whilst I agree this is a better way to look at it, are we testing the same amount of people each day? Are the number of tests going up, down or the same?
Over the same period I detailed above tests have ranged from a low of 412k (bad weather) to yesterdays high of 771k
There have been 4.1 million tests in the last week.

Yep personally think there's something a bit fishy going on in some areas my cousin (in their late 40's no health issues) who works in a high street optician had theirs earlier on in the week yet my parents in their mid 70's not getting theirs till tomorrow.

The reason why we might not have the uptake in the Over 80's is that we have a higher % of ethnic minorities in London who have been fed various pieces of misinformation about it.

I think that ethnicity might be a factor in London's poor vaccination rate. For some reason, it has been reported that Black people have been reluctant to take advantage of the vaccination programme. This must be very frustrating for all concerned. London has a far higher proportion of Black people than most parts of the UK. Offering the vaccine with low uptake must affect the figures. A terrible shame as the virus has a worse effect on Black people. Anyone on here who is black or has black friends, I urge them to spread the word.
I have heard of people jumping the queue, but when you give these cases closer examination they are justified. Eg: one of my old Chelsea mates ferries oldies around. Cousin who is a nurse, when she gets non-attendees, she ring anyone she knows who is vulnerable, to get there quick & gets a jab. I call that common sense to avoid wastage.

Not your daughters fault

But think that the definition of key worker needs revising if that's the case.

The EU have really Johnson'd it today

Imposition of restrictions on vaccine exports, managing to unite the DUP/Sinn Fein and both the Irish and UK government in doing so and then U turning on the decision once the bad press escalated

A good day’s work on the EU’s part. Another nail in its own coffin.

They have not covered themselves in glory have they.

I wonder if the move was more of a political stunt in response to their massively slow response to take advantage of the vaccination options. I can only imagine their national press coverage comparing their progress with the U.K. Blame shifting. The nasty Brits taking all the vaccine stuff.

Bottom line the EU has got it massively wrong and though it pains me to say Boris got it right. The vaccine rollout in the U.K. has been massive and continues to be so. Whether we hit the mid February target is another matter, but progress is impressive. The EU took too long to approve both vaccines, The Oxford one only getting approved a few days ago. Poor. And their reportedly slow ordering. Shambles.

So they try to blame the U.K. for their own incompetence.

Absolute omnishambles from the Commission. On the plus side, they've made a decent effort of healing the Brexit divide in the UK.
