I was aware that you could be liable for extra payments if you buy something directly from the EU. BBC article highlighting this. I have bought pullovers, expensive, but far superior to anything in the UK, from the Aran islands- Can now expect an extra payment of around £30-£80 for a pullover. I also get French after-shave from EU sellers on eBay. Not anymore.

We're currently unable to get a range of components used in a variety of building products, from door entry systems to communal heating systems. Many of these components are manufactured throughout the EU.
Currently trying to work with suppliers to find a way through, but it's clear that costs are going to increase.

Currently I'm buying boxer shorts from Gotland Island Sweden, a New York Yankees Baseball cap from Corsica and Cheese Strings from Lódź.

I don't automatically believe that paying a lot gets you the best, but you usually have to pay more to get better quality. Most expensive wool brand names in the UK, outsource their manufacturing to China. Woolovers for example say British wool, but knitted in China, possibly by Uighur forced labour. I have often found these quite expensive pullovers poor quality. Aran Island ones are made in Ireland with guaranteed Irish wool. They are much heavier and warmer than UK counterparts. Heart failure usually gives you a problem of feeling the cold.
The after-shave is mid-market stuff, unavailable in the UK. Good quality, the smell stays all day and doesn't alter. It is genuine. What is wrong with eBay? If you look before you purchase ( IE: Check feedback etc ) you can get a bargain. Honest Clive sells a lot of gear on eBay, all of if it kushti. I have 3744 positive feedbacks.

Listening this morning to an exporter who said that the new rules are now much the same as they have been for years when importing and exporting to non EU Countries so being as most of his business was with non EU Countries, no big change for his company when he does business under the new agreement with the EU. Strange that for years I have been buying goods on Ebay from non EU countries, especially small goods from Asia and apart from longish delivery times, very cheap and no problems experienced. In fact from China, very cheap postage, far cheaper than that in UK, dont know how they manage to send things halfway across the world for such cheap prices ? Recently I accidentally broke the LCD screen on my Panasonic digital camera, after contacting a few repairers, average cost to repair in UK around £95. I purchased a new LCD screen for the camera on Ebay for £5,88 including post and packing, came from China. It arrived under 3 weeks, checked online how to do the job myself and repair done in under one hour. Now I know how to do the repair, would be quicker if I did the same model of camera again.
