Keepers are generally poor though, most seem reluctant to dive and if they do its after the ball has sailed by.
Must be a reason why goalkeeping is such a poor aspect of the women's game.

What good is making the goals smaller if the pitch is the same size?

I remember when I used to play under 11 football over the marshes on full size pitches with full size goals and the ridiculous scores like 30-0 because teams with 12 and 13 year old ringers would just chip the goalkeeper on the line. And the keeper could barely kick the ball out of the area.

In many countries (and also in lots of soccer schools) they play on smaller pitches with smaller balls and smaller goals so the game is at the same scale.

In golf, women's tees are in front of men's tees. I think it would be better if goals, pitches and balls were set appropriately.

Over the marshes, 18 yard boxes were still the same size, even if pitches were narrower and shorter, And goals were same size.

It is odd. The passing, movement and technical ability of outfield players has always been good and standard has improved as new crops of players come through yet the keepers don't seem to have moved on that much in comparison.

Is it poor coaching or something else? I don't buy the smaller goals arguments as the clangers that people notice aren't top corner shots or being beaten when at full stretch but far more basic errors.

It was comments made by the manager of the Chelsea women's team pointing out the differences in stature between men and women. It was along the lines of they're generally shorter than men so the goals should be adjusted to compensate.

Tbh I'll probably watch the England games only in the eat stages and little else as I'm trying to get my daughter into playing the game.

Slight tangent. Women's teams participating at the WC are being given £24mil. Men's teams were given £315mil in 2018:

I would 100% advocate equal pay when the broadcasting rights, general level of interest and attendances are in line with the men's game.
Until they are - the women's game will earn less money. The gap is closing, which I believe is a good thing as the women's game grows.
But I don't understand the whining when economics dictates how money is allocated.

But that money I was referring to comes from FIFA... I''m not against the men's game subsidising the women's game to a degree. But to demand anything approaching equal pay is IMHO just ridiculous.
