I can't accept the 28 day rule isn't excluding large numbers.
Why would it exclude people?
The way deaths are calculated change in the summer it used to be that anyone who ever had Covid and died was counted - no matter the actual cause of death, now it's anyone who had a positve Covid test in the 28 days before death. In some countries deaths are only recorded if Covid was the specific cause of death. The number of deaths based on the initial way of calculation will obviously be higher.
So if you die on day 29 from Covid it's not recorded as a Covid death unless you have been tested for Covid in the previous 28 days. Troubling.

I would guess they will close all click and collect shops for a start, that takes a lot of people out of work and removes the need for literally thousands to be on the road or walking around buying sh*t.

Then the old nazi police can start rounding people up. I warned you all what was coming and the poor family up in Scotland have now seen, felt and had some of the bovver booted cops action, it will be soon in England and elsewhere. If you’ve not seen the video I suggest you look it up as it’s a disgrace and I was shaking with anger over what the old bill did to the young girl and her parents. I hope sturgeon is proud of what she’s initiated, but don’t worry Boris will implement this everywhere, they are coming for you.

Lots more they could do.

Tell all the shops that are open that aren't actually selling basic essentials to close, including the click and collect nonsense and getting an overpriced flat white and chocolate raspberry tart from Gails.

I've seen more police about in the last few days but not much in the way of challenging people. I'd be happy to be stopped and asked what I'm doing and to provide evidence. They should be sending people home and telling people that they don't have a good enough reason to be out. Most people won't need a fine, they just need to be told what is acceptable.

With all the mixed messaging it's no surprise that people and businesses are taking the approach of doing as much as they are allowed, remember when we were told that the problem was we had all taken the instruction to stay at home too seriously?

I think we are going to see deaths in multiple thousands each day within the next 2-3 weeks and people dying without being able to be given anything other than basic palliative care, couldn't be much more urgent that it's taken seriously again.

On the police

Expected to enforce face coverings but all someone has to do is say "Exempt" and then they are. If you ask them how they're exempt then you're liable to committ an offence yourself. Imagine any other law where all you had to say was one word without any proof to have it not apply?

On enforcing stay at home, unfortunately they just don't have the numbers to be challenging everyone and to hit the chartered time for calls. Even if they do break up 6 lads in a park from different homes, short of following them all home theres nothing to stop them meeting in a separate location in 10 minutes time

On enforcing travel restrictions, the PM says exercise should be once a day (no way of proving) and in your local area. There is no defined area one can travel to do their exercise in the legislation so it is therefore unenforceable. And when forces try and stop people visiting beauty spots like the two girls in Derbyshire they get their face on all the front pages and the police get dragged through the mud.

On fines, enforcement is the last E on the 4 E's (encourage, engage, explain, enforce) and therefore is meant to be a last resort. This makes it less of a deterrent.

Then with all of the above, you've got a minority of people that think any enforcement lockdown is too much and will call you nazis etc

I go for a long walk once a day, usually around noon. The streets around here are as busy as they were before Christmas. Last March it was like a ghost town, but this time you'd be hard pressed to notice much difference from Tier 3. People are not taking this seriously and, if infections and hospitalisation continues to increase, it only makes more drastic intervention likely.

I find myself in agreement with PAM. I know this will mean a lot to him.....

The government has made an art of ambiguity in it's messaging and I agree that the police have been given an impossible task to try and enforce the "guidance" and even "the law" as applied to lockdown. The "exemption" get out of jail system was called out when it was first announced and even on this MB sensible alternatives were proposed - like needing a GP to authorise an exemption certificate. Imagine, even this MB knew better than the government!

How did you calculate your prediction of multiple thousands of deaths? I think they could double.

Double is a multiple of two, isn't it?

But yeah, recorded deaths in the region of 2k per day does seem possible.

Im basing my calculation on infections being double what they were three weeks ago, but daily tests have gone from 400k a day to 600k now. So in 3 weeks we could see slightly less than double the number of deaths. Is that right?

It may we’ll hit 2,000 per day but remember that isn’t just the hospital deaths, it also includes the oldies in care homes.
