But when he does it, it's because he's a 'good manager'.gshaw wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 4:19 pm
The failure by Ling to get the Adams signing sorted followed by Gorman, Alabi and not getting a CM in January made it a lot harder for sure. That just highlights what a good manager JE was to manage to get us over the line in a completely un-Orient-esque way.
Who cares how you win, as long as you win that's what matters... or seemingly not these days as developing the careers of Embleton & co seems to be the main priority.
- had lost Koroma to injury over the Xmas period, nullifying our attacking threat as Alabi was hopeless
- Jobi was struggling and as we now know pushing himself above and beyond to even keep playing
- CM was our weak spot but we had a group of solid defenders
- we had a lead at the top to protect having put ourselves there through attacking 4-4-2
- dropped Ling for Turley to get some pace and aggression at RB
Now contract to Embleton's approach at the start of his reign and in some areas still now...
- cautious, nervous football sideways and backwards
- attacking threat regularly moved to LB
- respect / praise the opposition at all times to the point of being scared of them (Swindon last season)
So yes JE changed it up to get us over the line with tiring legs and injuries, making the best of whatever he had available to win a title. Are we seeing the best of this group we have now? Debatable...
When the players are let off the leash they show they are capable of decent attacking play (Bolton) but sadly it's few and far between.

Well maybe not that smart that they take a age to interview people, and then pick a candidate Who would not have got a managers job with any other league club, and then sack him and pay him off after a month.Adz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 6:59 pm This thread seems to have boiled down to NT is the problem because he won't sack ML who is the real problem.
Does anyone on here actually have a clue what ML does on a day to day basis, because I highly doubt it? If NT needs him it's fair to assume his role is important to the running of the club. NT is a smart businessman not some mug off the street who has just inherited a load of money

Re: Nigel Travis is the Problem......
The only ‘problem’ with NT/KT is that they are not communicating their thoughts on how they will develop the club .... and, sure as day follows night, they don’t damn have to. It’s their club, regardless of ‘fan ownership’.
They will have shared private thoughts on the results, relative to (a) their plan, (b) other teams, and (c) C-19. And thence thought out the necessary succession planning.
If they hadn’t, we would have already seen a repeat of the pathetic, knee-jerk ‘management’ enacted by a certain Italian.
The middle of the C-19 sh!t-storm is not the time to be throwing rocks into the pond BUT their patience will have a limit; then we will see their metal.
As I said many times during my career, ‘Any fool can lead a team during the good times but it takes a true leader during the bad times’.

Re: Nigel Travis is the Problem......
Going off piste for the moment, my mate noticed on the stream that Gary Waddock was in Cambridge's dugout as Assistant.
Nothing against Danny Senda, wouldn't someone like him have been a more experienced old head to help Ross ?
I think an old head would be better as a no. 2 rather than bring in someone like Holloway or Slade as a no. 1

They might as well as kept Ross in the job and publicly supported him.
