Re: Strong Words
Sadiq Khan don’t represent me. I would say more but don’t want a sin bin. I have too much to offer.

There’s a big difference between representing common folk and simply blurting out popularist nonsense which they want to hear.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 2:32 pm Kind of like Trump, seems to represent the common folk well.
Trump does the latter.

And which specific policies of Trump’s has he delivered on that makes you say he represents the common people?Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 6:19 pm Giving people the policies they want and speaking to them in their own language.

Re: Strong Words
President Trump is visiting the United Kingdom to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D Day. Over 6,600 Americans were killed or wounded on 6 June 1944 and, overall, more than 400,000 Americans died in the Second World War. They actually fought real Nazis and Fascists. Anyone who values - or even simply understands - the importance of a free, liberal society owes an eternal debt of gratitude to the United States.
Sleekit Khan's pronouncements, the BBC's hysterical coverage of the Presidential visit and the tawdry, bitter rants from a temporary alliance of the snarling far-left and the sneering, bien-pensant bourgeois fit the pattern of a political ethos which has become complacent, intellectually spent, exhausted and, ultimately, anti-democratic. Thankfully it is very close to collapse.
Any Americans who might have invested in the UK, or might be seeking to invest there, ought to be appalled at the hypocrisy, spite and bigotry of these habitual ingrates; they are indeed insulting not just the President but those tens of millions of American citizens who elected him - and whose parents and grandparents saved Western Europe firstly from fascism and then from communism. These Americans might even wonder whether bankrolling the pastimes of these indolent, emotionally incontinent blustering Londoners are worth another cent.

Re: Strong Words
Jesus, what a load of crap. Where to start? Do you seriously think that many Americans would consider a protest against Trump as an insult to the US servicemen who fought in WW2? That's some stretch. Personally, I don't believe there should be any protest at or during any memorial ceremony but Trump is fair game at any other time he's over here. That's part of the "free, liberal society" we live in last time I checked.Flying Hippo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 7:00 pm President Trump is visiting the United Kingdom to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D Day. It seems that anything or anyone a left-leaning socialist doesn't agree with or like, is deemed 'far right' or Nazi.

Thought Trump was democratically elected therefore should be welcome as should all those elected to positions. Funny that China President and Saudi leader who murder opponents get a welcome but President of US doesnt.

Hopefully there will be massive demonstrations against Trump when he's here.
We ignore the rise of the right at our peril & its about time that people like Farage are exposed for what they are & are demonstrated against wherever they go

But trump is far right. If that's your thing, fair enough, but don't lie about what he is.

Re: Strong Words
Once again, the hypocrisy of the left rises to the top. They never organize protests when we are visited by some of the worlds biggest tyrants , but all come out of the woodwork when the leader of our most important Ally comes to visit.
Sadiq Khan should as suggested by Donald trump try concentrating on the massive death rate as a result of knife crime not trying to outsmart the president of the u.s.a.

Re: Strong Words
Although Trump is an odious character, he is President of the United States. Surely giving him a state visit is not because he is such a great bloke, but because he is President of our biggest ally. I think that those costing taxpayers millions of money for policing the visit should give a little more respect, not to a horrible creature like Trump but to the President of our greatest ally. Surely with us leaving the EU, we need all the allies we can get.

Spot on, it’s the role that’s offered the state visit not the person.bobo66 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 11:18 am Although Trump is an odious character, he is President of the United States. Why do you think that. I’ve voted Labour more times than any other party and am, as many know, a huge fan of Blair and new Labour. If TB was leader of Labour today it would be a much better party and probably in Downing Street now.
I hate with a passion what the party has become.

Re: Strong Words
I'd actually agree that it is the role that's invited. However, we also live in a society where we can protest against anything we believe to be wrong. A lot of people disagree with or dislike Trump because of his policies, in his role as President. It's impossible to dissociate the actions of Trump and the US President. They are the same and open to criticism and protest.bobo66 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 11:18 am Although Trump is an odious character, he is President of the United States. I'd strongly disagree with any consideration of the US being our greatest Ally under Trump. I'm afraid those days are over. When Trump considers the UK he is only looking at how how he can screw us on a Trade deal or negotiate for US firms to take over our institutions - at least the ones where they can make a fast buck.
