Nigel Travis is the Problem......💩
......because while hes chairman, everyone will go along with all he says, like he wont hear a word against Martin Ling, even though lings track record is bloody awful. Two duff managers out of three, and the Fletcher debacle made us a laughing stock.
All this, Hes no bloody good, but hes Orient through and through, is also doing us no favours. The club is run like an old boys network....you know " the orient way", whatever that actually means
Ive seen us go from a decent Championship side to a rubbish fourth division side via the National League.
i found some old programmes....we were regularly playing teams like Newcastle, Norwich, Brighton, Southampton, Leeds, etcetc, now were playing, ( & losing to) Morcambe, Cambridge, etc etc
For this club to progress we need a clear out from top to bottom. no good putting wallpaper to cover the cracks any more. we should be playing at a much higher level, and this crap has gone on too long

Will you be selling your programmes from all those Div 2 defeats to fund your buyout of Nigel and Kent?

Travis took over the club when we'd been relegated to the conference, so how is it relevant to his time at the club that we used to be in what is now the Championship? He's overseen a promotion in his first few years too and has rebuilt the club. He has a medium and long term plan for the club. Hardly a problem. Also because of him we're in better shape to ride out the financial crisis caused by covid-19 than many of our rivals. You seem to think we should automatically be entitled to be a top team.and just progress up the divisions as easy as anything when football doesn't work that way and you're angry and acting like an impatient child because you don't understand that.
The Fletcher saga didn't really make us a laughing stock. It's long forgotten now in the world of football as a lot has happened.elsewhere since then. Nor is the club an old boys act - who is an old boy apart from Ling? It's clear that you don't like Ling (despite not understanding what he does) and now you're taking out your anger on Travis because you want him out but Travis doesn't. Nobody will automatically go along with what he says just because he is Nigel Travis. If there is something genuine to criticise him for then people will criticise him.
Travis isn't the problem. You are.

Whatever the problem is, I've got out of the habit of going to watch Orient and right now there is absolutely no way that I can see myself ever going back to Brisbane Road

I can't believe what I've just read in that opening post. If it wasn't for Nigel and Kent we wouldn't have a club. As far as I'm concerned , along with Justin Edinburgh they were Heaven sent to rescue our club. That's why I will always back them to the hilt . Nobody ever gets everything right in life but I'm sure that given time Nigel and Kent will drive our club onwards and upwards .

Re: Nigel Travis is the Problem......
It's football , everything could change on a pin head . A couple of decent signings in the transfer window could make all the difference . We've still in with a chance of achieving something this season. I only hope the club chooses wisely in the transfer market

Re: Nigel Travis is the Problem......
Sadly, I am in total agreement with you, I have watched a few streamed games and they were dire.
Unless our owners wake up they will have a very small revenue stream as nobody in their right mind would pay to watch the garbage on offer let alone buy a season ticket for next season.
It's time to get rid of the DOF , Embleton and all the other assistant hangers on.
Whilst I am grateful for the club being saved, the way things are going after supporting the O's for nearly 65 years I am beginning to wonder was it all worth it.
The owners seam to be blindly following Martin Ling and Embleton into the abyss.
I am sick of the way our club is being a death by a thousand cuts and will not watch another game on stream or at Brisbane Road until Ling Senior, Embleton and Ling Junior have left our club.

Complete garbage
I don't know how you get to your age and be so foot stampingly childish.
What your post boils down to is you're having a tantrum because Nigel is not sacking everybody at the club you hate. You think we have some sort of right to be a couple of divisions higher because we were once about fifty years ago.
You saying the man who saved us from extinction, rebuilt the club and has delivered a promotion and a cup final in three seasons is 'the problem'. Get a grip.

Technically it’s 3 duff managers out of 4 but otherwise, yeah, the content is correct, if not the conclusion.

Re: Nigel Travis is the Problem......
I did wonder how long it would be before someone started pointing the finger at Nigel.
Nigel (and Kent) has not only put lots of money into the club, but also alot of trust in others to run it right, as by Nigels own admission, he has no experience of running a football club.
So if Nigel is going to be blamed for anything, it's trusting others. Something that he that shall not be named wasn't prepared to do.

COYOS is correct with most of his information and the bizarre worship cult of Martin Ling, but to give any criticism of Nigel Travers is beyond the pale.

Re: Nigel Travis is the Problem......
While there are people and /or players who shouldn’t be employed by Orient , to level the blame at Nigel Travis is ridiculous.
The guy along with KT saved our club and while certain things aren’t perfect we’re a mid table League 2 club doing its best to survive in what’s been a turbulent year for the whole world, let alone Football.
We have no divine right to be top of the league or beat any opposition put in front of us........some of our fans should go and support Liverpool if they want perfection or close to it.
I suspect that all is not perfect at all League 2 clubs as it is at our esteemed club, but I would rather have our owners than many others you hear about.

In your 65 years of going to watch Orient i doubt if this season is in the top 30 of bad years.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:31 pmSadly, I am in total agreement with you, I have watched a few streamed games and they were dire.

Re: Nigel Travis is the Problem......
Well, sort of....Disoriented wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 7:29 am COYOS is correct with most of his information .........
Our record in Div2 in the 60s and 70s was:
16th, 19th, 22nd (relegated)
Then:
17th, 17th, 15th, 4th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 14th, 11th, 14th, 17th, 22nd (relegated).
So, yes we were indeed a Division 2 team for most of 2 decades but to say we were a decent one is stretching it a bit apart from that one great season in 73/74.
As I remember it, we had far more brushes with relegation than we did with promotion and we often finished as one of the lowest scoring teams in the division (if not the whole football league).
Yes, we did play the likes of Newcastle, Norwich, Brighton, Southampton and Leeds but we lost far more than we won.
