I thought it was looking quite accurate until it got towards the end. Clearly the writer missed the first half of the season.

Such things are subjective but on the whole, give or take the odd position, I’d say it’s reasonable.

What’s so funny about that? He was arguably our best player last season.

Arguably there is a case for a few players being our best overall, including Brill and Coulson. All subjective but +/- a few places it’s OK.

Hi guys, obviously it’s all subjective, footballs a game of opinions that’s what it’s all about. I’m studying sports journalism at the minute and this was mainly done to keep me writing a little bit while I’m on holiday. So I appreciate any feedback, even if you disagree with me, cheers.

Other than the five or six ahead of him, I agree.
Re: Ranking all 22 players from Orient’s title winning campaign
Agree with most of it.
Elokobi doesn't really qualify, don't recall him being worse than Coulson in the first game, got injured in the second. By the time he came back against Ebbsfleet he was finished anyway as Turley had signed, and subbing him might have been a tactical humiliation to make him angry so we could terminate his deal.
Think it was too generous to Harrold and Brophy. Until the final run-in where we changed formation I thought they had poor seasons. Brophy redeemed himself by doing OK in a variety of positions. Harrold did in the tinpot which improved the quality of his sub appearances.

Good work and agree with the No. 1 placing for Craig Clay as did the fans and his fellow players.BrendO wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 5:47 pm New blog: Ranking all 22 players from Orient’s 18/19 title winning campaign

Re: Ranking all 22 players from Orient’s title winning campaign
Overall it’s a reasonable list. What baffles me is why so many players have a moment from the tinpot trophy as their moment of the season. There’s no way thatthe most important things Dan Happe and Joe Widdowson did all season occurred in that pointless competition.

Justin has it right with SJC and Widdowson
Re: Ranking all 22 players from Orient’s title winning campaign
I think it's doing Coulson a disservice really. Really I think he was the glue that held the defence together, and was the experienced guy marshalling Happe and Marv. He also scored some real important goals, don't recall us ever having a centre-back with so many goals from open play, perhaps Mkandawire.
Marv was way out in front at one stage but after his injury he wasn't the same player, whereas I think Coulson stayed consistent... can't remember him having too many off games.
I think for other candidates there is a fair amount of emotion swaying it.
If Jobi wasn't so old I think he would have been marked down a bit. If Clay wasn't so badly maligned last season I think he would have been marked down a bit as well. On an absolute basis neither player was one of the best in the division I feel, but Coulson was.
One of the bad players this year like Ling or Gorman only really need to have just a good season next year to be in contention for the crown IMO, whereas Bonne would not be if he managed 'only' 15 goals.

Re: Ranking all 22 players from Orient’s title winning campaign
Being as Josh Coulson is a legend at Cambridge Utd, wonder if that club is regretting the decision to let him go ? Amazing that we have two older players in Brill and Coulson who have both overcome injury ( Brill had retired due to injury problems ) problems and to play so well in so many games last season.eagwgw wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 10:55 am I think it's doing Coulson a disservice really. Harrold another player who seems to have now got over the injury problems that he had both before and after coming to the Os. I hope Ling, Judd and also Dayton can also get over their injury problems and be up for it in the coming season.

He's never rated Clay. He downplays his quality to cover for him being so wrong about him.orienfan64920 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 11:00 pmFan's and players player's player. I never rated clay when he was god damn awful last season, you're right.Red_Army wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 10:41 amHe's never rated Clay. I have given him praise on lots of occassions this season, when he's warranted it.
And as I've said on many a thread, I'd have him as around 7th best player this season. Hardly as if I have it in for the guy. I've also commented on how handsome he is, despite the gargantuan size of his face.
The main reason I appear to go on about him too much is that, in my opinion, some have incorrectly overrated his ability and performances because of 1) how bad the rest of our central midfielders were and 2) how bad he was last season. That's all.

Yeah you must be right Bob, a centre midfield that won the league.

So because we won the league, that means all our players are the best in the division? Right oh.
