Re: Coronavirus
I got through it. I'm meant to be on another Zoom quiz later today, and then have a virtual stand-up comedy night next Tuesday. I mean, I get that it's tragic that people are dying and going hungry and all that, but why doesn't the media ever talk about the plight of middle-managers and executives you have to try and maintain some semblance of corporate culture in these difficult times?

I feel your pain and am just grateful that I am so utterly friendless, I escape all invites to such jollities.Dunners wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 1:22 pmI got through it. Re: Coronavirus
Called it back in September. Now the Swedish king and PM have declared their approach a failure.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-55347021
Sweden 10m people 8,000 deaths. Denmark, Norway and Finland combined 16m people, 1,900 deaths.
Only olds though, so nothing to worry about

Yes, as a tip, try not to buy any property in next few months. Prices already started to slow. The real ‘white elephants’ executive flats in City are being down valued by a substantial chunk. Ones sold a couple years ago for circa 650k are being valued at 450k . One which was on the market for a million start of the year was struggling to get a bid of 700k. Flats particularly are being hit badly due to cladding worries. Anyone buying high rise need a certificate signed off by a highly qualified ‘Fireman Sam’ Specialist Surveyor of which there are apparently less than 40 in the Country. Big down turn in the market expected with added issues of sellers still imagining that their homes are worth what they were achieving two years ago. Gold prices going up which is another usual sign.

Re: Coronavirus
Standby for national lockdown straight after Xmas. Furlough has been extended till the end of April so I think with the numbers being reported a full month of lockdown will commence once xmas is out the way.

Re: Coronavirus
Some Newcastle players to take multiple weeks more to recover from covid. These are about as healthy as you can get and still both got it and got it bad. Anyone who is happy to get it over a vaccine is a fool

Re: Coronavirus
Or maybe it takes time to produce enough of the vaccine, then vaccinate enough of the population (starting with the most vulnerable) to make a difference in the transmission, infection and hospitalisation rates?Still wrong wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 8:33 pmIt seems they haven’t got much confidence is this much publicised vaccine.

Re: Coronavirus
Interesting graph on mask wearing in Denmark verses the huge rise in cases. Our own deputy chief medical officer has said previously there is no scientific evidence either way for wearing them. The video has been posted in here previously of Harriies saying that.

Re: Coronavirus
So there's a new strain thought to be more contagious. How could it spread more easily?

PW:-So there's a new strain thought to be more contagious. How could it spread more easily?
Viruses are very good at adapting, so that they can replicate better. Some viruses have become less dangerous ( not Covid 19 ) as it suits them not to do too much damage to their host. Norovirus is incredibly infectious, You only need to ingest a very, very few virus particles to get infected. One of the reasons why we get such bad outbreaks. I have not seen any reports about how much Covid 19 you need to get before you become ill. It could be one reason why masks seem to have some effect. It may prevent how much virus you ingest.

Re: Coronavirus
According to one of my customers yesterday it has now reached the stage where every death is being recorded as a Covid death.
I queried when exactly doctors had become so lazy and unprofessional and whether someone run over and killed by a bus would go down as a Covid death. Customer confirmed it would.
Another one tomorrow at the same time.
Re: Coronavirus
I read that the "new strain" could be more prevalent in the upper respiratory tract (as opposed to down in the lungs), and hence more of the viral payload goes out during coughing/exhalation.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 11:07 am So there's a new strain thought to be more contagious. However, it is too soon to draw any firm conclusions, and no reason for now to believe it's more infectious, more dangerous or won't respond to vaccines.
Media also have something new to get their teeth into and frighten people with before the full facts are known.
