No its not. I personally wouldn’t boo, but thank goodness we live in a country where we have freedom of speech (within the law), and I would always defend that right.
It’s a slippery slope otherwise, what next, not wear a ‘taking the knee’ badge maybe upon entering the stadium becomes the actions of a bigot? Not joining a march perhaps?
One either believes in free speech (within the law) or one doesn’t, and that has to work regardless of whether one agrees with what is being said or not.
You are advocating the right of people to boo which is contradictory and is a worthless argument for supporting racists.
In addition, at Orient the Chairman has specifically asked fans not to boo or express racist views. His club, his stadium and his rules. Why can't you just accept this?

Suggest it to the club. What sort of gesture could be shown? How about some sort of salute?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 12:55 pm I was 100% behind the taking the knee when it began in June, following the terrible death of George Floyd, but even I now think its time to end it.
There are so many injustices in the world, that we could equally demonstrate for at football matches, but we don't.
What about highlighting the biggest injustice in the world today, the treatment of Palestinians. They are being brutalised on a daily basis by an occupying force, or the plight of Yemenis, who are being bombed out of existence etc etc. The list goes on and on .
Its time to end it now.
Having said all that, I would like to point out, I dont agree with the moronic behaviour of Millwall 'fans', who booed. They are racists, pure and simple

If you honestly feel the need to either question or protest about an acknowledged anti-racist gesture, you need to give your head a big old wobble.
Feel free to boo though or protest though - I'd never stop you and free speech exists as long as you're happy identifying yourself as a c***.

Re: FAO Racists
It’s NOT expressing racist views though is it. Why is Julie Hartley Brewer on this morning defending millwall fans. She can’t and would not do that if they had been racist. Why does Sajid Javid say of BLM. “They are not a force for good”. Why did millwall fans booing get 30,000 likes on Mail online and comments were only open for an hour. You will say all these people are right wing and they are but you can’t say they are racist. It’s just the brexit and culture war debate being played over again. Left vs right which means it’s political and political statements have no place on a football field.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 12:57 pmBut, but people also have the right to freedom of expression which in this case takes the form of kneeling to show solidarity for oppressed black people.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 12:42 pm If someone boos because they don’t want politics involved in sport that is not the actions of a bigot.

Spot on from Nigel, racists are not welcome in all decent minded society. The single brain cell these racists all share needs to be educated that everyone in life no matter what colour, religion or creed are humans and should be treated as equal.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:57 am Careful tomorrow night, you have been warned.

I hope we have no racists as O’s supporters and if we do and they attend matches and they are seen to act in any racist way that decent supporters will report them to stewards and be removed and banned for life.

I think we should be thanking the Millwall "fans". What has been looking like a tired gesture has been revitalised. They and the closet racists on here need to carry on with what they're doing, it's working.

I think there is a conflation between BLM the cause and BLM the 'political' organisation. I guess it's possible to be in favour of one and against the other, the trouble is, the existence of the latter is a convenient cover for those who don't support BLM in any form.

Re: FAO Racists
The simple fact is, some people think that their personal views are soooo important that they absolutely NEED to make it known that they dont agree with equality. That's it. Dress it up how you want but it boils down to insecurities that the status quo could change. If you are against it, fine. The urge to actually boo and make it known you are against something so basic that its depressing footballers have to take a knee every week says more about you than them, is, frankly, bizarre.

This isn't about Left vs Right - that's just the pigeon-holing of views that the media and hard of thinking like to project. It makes it easier for them to disparage contrary opinions. This is about racism, pure and simple. Either you're a racist or you aren't.

I think some folk might be getting a bit mixed up between "free speech" and "consequence-free speech".
The first exists, certainly (subject to the law, of course), the second does not - no matter how much you'd like it to. So boo if you want - it's self identifying.

Disagree. You can't make it "crystal clear" because human nature being what it is, the racists will find another way of showing they're racist - sorry anti-marxist. "Oh I can't boo the taking the knee, you say? Well I wasn't booing, I was whistling - there! - stick that in your woke pipe and woke it" - but you know that already.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 1:15 pmIts not crystal clear because they've dressed it up in vague language.
