Also, Chillingworth scoring possibly the flukiest equaliser of all time against Rushden and Diamonds. Kicked the ball sky high, keeper jumped as if it'd already gone out, somehow bounced in.
I remember them both.

It was a dreadful evening game with a crowd of just 3,000. A fan ran on the pitch and kicked the ball in the Hull goal, there was a photo in the Hackney Gazette.

Two things from my East Stand days …

First: when Ian Moores was on the near touch-line just in our half. To save conceding a throw in from a half-clearance he stretched out to volley the ball, turning up-field as he did. Reasonable, but an opponent jumped high to charge this down with his torso. Result? Ian outstretched leg collided nice and fast with the opponent's groin and he was down for 5 minutes. His name? John Thomas … I kid you not! (c 1979/1980?)

Second: ah, Ray The Rake or Ray The Roller, bless him. He was standing at the old dugout with Mr Hasler etc when the far corner-flag on the north touch-line was broken in half by accident. Upon a signal from the ref, Ray picked up a new flag and ran cross-field and replaced it. But instead of walking back around the perimeter with the remains of the old flag, he proceeded to run cross-ways back to the dugout (and he wasn't the fastest in the land) through a field of bemused players and a less-than-impressed referee who couldn't restart the match until …

Raymond the Roller's finest hour. My recollection is that he ran off at a fair old pace, sufficient to be concerned that he'd trip, fall over and impale himself on the broken flagpole, as he bore it aloft like a manic javelin thrower. I also recall he re-enacted it a few times at half-time thereafter, usually from one area to the other to carry out his half-time pitch repairs.

Peter Brabrook receiving a ball on/about the half way line and, slow as he was, beating every defender he faced as he made his way, unassisted to the goal, where he finally rounded the keeper before stubbing his foot/toe in the ground and falling forward and accidently headed the ball (with his face) into the net which, for reasons beyond all who were there, was disallowed by the ref. I guess 1969 ish, possibly against Shrewsbury.

Happening in a way contrary to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this. Understand? You are not that astute.

Early 70 s
Think this may have been Bleeds red late Father. An avid Os fan who was so fed up watching a match once that he ran onto the pitch and showed the players " How its done" by sticking the ball in the net.

Hansen scored with his arse from at least 25 yards. Big (Fat) Jim Stannard booted it against him as he turned. Did with his arse what he could not do with his feet.

Is that definitely right? In 1995/96 Gillingham won 1-0 at our place and we drew 1-1 at theirs (Andy Arnott injury time equaliser with resultant head gash). According to Wiki Stannard stayed with Gills in the league above for the next few years.

I've just remembered an incident. Peter Brabrook, near to the East Side touchline, going to trap a misplaced clearance from the opposition goalkeeper on his chest and for some inexplicable reason deciding to catch it instead and then stepping out of play and trying to make the ref believe the ball was already out of play when he caught it.

I can recall us getting a free kick from way out v Sunderland, late 70s/ early 80s, and Tommy Taylor decided he was going to take a strike at goal. Jimmy Bloomfield was out on the touchline screaming instructions and clearly wanted one floated into the box, and he was still screaming his disapproval at being ignored as Taylor’s free kick hit the back of the net at pace. Think it was the winner too, we certainly won that day.
