Yes it was, easily in my top five O's games and i have seen most of the classics.
A crazy, chaotic, dramatic, atmospheric game with i'm not sure how many O's fans crammed in one end.
Awful organisation by Rotherham when they let home fans into the away seated area.
Never been to a game that finished that late, kick off delayed then penalties.
At the end everyone chanting We're going to Wembley and Dean Smith's mum down the front giving him a hug.

I was on holiday in The Vendee, France when the play off final was on. I checked with the geezer at the Bar that he would be showing it on the telly and he confirmed it. I arrived for kick off and bought a beer and watched the game.
At the start of the second half a group of Irish geezers came in and asked the barman to turn it over to Tims v Billys SC Final. I appealed to the barman but he shrugged his shoulders with an air of hawheehaw insouciance and said there was more of them than me. I stamped out in disgust hoping that the Sons of William stuffed Sellik. I believe Old Rangers of 1872 won 1-0.

Well, it's not 500-odd, it's the difference between around 10k and however many you thought we took (you only specified fewer than 9,500 but not by how many). So if you thought we took 9,000 to Cardiff then it's around 1k difference, and the lower the number you were thinking of the greater the difference to the reported number.

I was under the impression we took 9000 as thats how many tickets were reported.to.have been sold at the time .. the report of the gazette says in front of 13000 blackpool fans.
You assume it was 13000 dead.
Ive seen reports of 21- 24 000 O's fans at Wemhley for the trophy final .
So you assume we took 10, 600 .
I remember the WF Guardian saying a few days before we had sold just over 6000 for cardiff
Only another 3 k went making a total of 9k. Ill have to dig out my copy of that guardian to see if i can get a photo up.

A couple of days before the game (in 1999) Barry Hearn told Hackney Gazette that we had sold 16 000 tickets. He also said that the club would net a cash windfall of around £ 200 000.

I was 12 and was amazed by the whole day really. Football was everything at that age and was excited for what turned out to be my only visit to the old Wembley.
Remember going to a pub somewhere in east london and getting on an open top bus to Wembley in the blazing heat (someone almost lost their head on a low overpass). Remember pre-kick off, the huge inflatable men in Orient kits that you see outside car dealerships and watching Scott Barratt warm up. Have very vague recollections of the game including thinking Barratt should have done better with the goal and Ingelthorpe hitting the post.
Mainly remember at the end, walking back up the steps and seeing grown men cry and finding that all a bit weird. Got back on the coach and scunthorpe fans started giving it and throwing things at us and then as soon as we hit the road, the heavens opened and a huge thunderstorm erupted meaning everyone was huddled on the bottom deck in near silence.
The thunderstorm is the only part of that day I remember to be honest.
As I remember it..I was joined by family members..people who have an interest in the O's only because I do.
We had a lovely day together.After the match they made their way home and I met up with the best friends in my life for post match drinks.
It would be easy to say that without the football it would have been the perfect day.
But without the football it would it wouldn't have happened at all.
And the same scenario has occurred in all our subsequent finals..
