Any ideas for alternatives to this turgid drone?

Re: Stand Up For The Orient
I think is fine last few minutes of a game but when this being sung at the Braintree game, the old girl behind and her husband couldn't see, so be a little considerate at times

Re: Stand Up For The Orient
Should only be used when in a secure winning position and / or success guaranteed to appreciate the team playing particularly well. Bloody stupid at 0-0 like at Wembley when Fylde went up the other end and scored in the middle of it.

Re: Stand Up For The Orient
Made me laugh(sic) in cup final, couple of yoofs in front were so busy shouting and waving arms like demented Emus's at those behind they missed the Fylde goal. I started to think it was a curse 'cos Fylde nearly scored every time they performed.
but they also missed the two times we hit the post same reason, thoroughly annoying song, means nothing and not our song and definitely the reason we lost.

Stand up for the Orient (repeat 3 times)
On a positive note, it scans really well and has an inclusive message. The downside - as has been pointed out above - is that it encourages unruly behaviour in areas designated for sitting down.
A solution could be to keep the framework of the song but alter the first two words.

Re: Stand Up For The Orient
That is exactly why the song started, initially by supporters of teams in all seater stadiums.
Stewards would spend ages getting on everyones nerves by telling people to sit down so a regular burst of " Stand up, if you love *********" or " Stand up, if you hate *********" would ensure that they could remain standing.

Not very inclusive for the disabled, or others who have difficulty standing or even short people who can't see when those in front stand up.

How about... " God save our gracious O's, god save our.... .... " and so on. Turgidity personified :-)

My friend who has a season ticket at Chelsea, says that 2 large gentleman, who sit a few rows behind him, found the perfect solution to this sort of thing. They growl " SEDAN " in a menacing manner & it works every time.

Re: Stand Up For The Orient
I find the chant a bit embarrassing now. I'm sure it came about when we were fighting for survival when West Ham got the Olympic stadium and it looked as though it might spell the end of Leyton Orient.
That's in the past and it didn't spell the end, so we should move on.
Every time it happens I have to stand up as well so I can see the match. Perhaps it should only be allowed during breaks in play (injuries etc) when I could stay seated and not miss any action.

That's what a lot of teams supporters do.StillSpike wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 3:29 pm How about "Sit Down for the Orient"?
Scans just as well.
Once everyone has stood up it changes to Sit Down...………………. and everyone sits down.
Try it next season
