We're currently 21st in Experimental 361s xG league table, which is a little concerning - suggests we're overachieving.

There’s a few similar opinions expressed on here that we are under-performing given the squad, and I concur. But I doubt we’re doing badly enough for action to be taken in terms of a managerial change.

We have shown that we are capable of putting together decent performances and stringing together some good results, but we’re not doing it consistently enough to challenge for promotion. It feels likely to be a bottom half finish without a relegation threat. I don’t think that would be good enough, given I believe as a club we’re in a better position – thanks primarily to the owners – than many others at our level.

At some point the owners may conclude that a change is needed, but I doubt that will be this season. It’s not entirely impossible that R oss may re-conclude it himself, but he does need a job at the end of the day.

No way.
60 k plus bonuses.
Glad you’re not doing the contracts Sid.
I was earning 50K plus a year when I got made redundant from my job as a maintenance engineer in 2010. I worked for a large multinational Pharma company and I was 62 years old at the time. So I would have guessed that R-oss would earning at least around £8000 a month so £96,000 a year ? So only £5000 a month before stoppages ? Well perhaps you are right ?
You had years of experience and proven knowledge Sid, Boss has neither at the moment.
Even 60 k is a lot for someone with no track record, he wouldn’t get nowhere near that anywhere else.
I would imagine Ling is on 80k. Again it’s unlikely he would get that elsewhere as most clubs wouldn’t have a DOF. They would use that money to appoint a manager and let the CEO sort out contracts. A bit like Barry did.
Talking about experience, why would you let a CEO with no experience of football player contracts take on that responsibility? One mistake there could last for over 2 years! You cant have it both ways. Also he has no experience of dealing with agents.

I doubt we'll make the play offs so I think the best we can hope for is mid table . I think Boss will have a better chance of getting us into the play offs next season when he's gained more managerial experience .
With better players hopefully. Up to 8 may not get a new contract.
So we have a poor Head Coach so blame the players! Another one for the Embleton growing list of excuses.

According to Ling Snr we have a strong squad. According to Embleton we have strength in depth which gives him issues trying to keep everybody happy.

So are you suggesting Ling and Embleton are telling porkies.
Be realistic. Name the players in our squad who would get into a top six L2 starting eleven. I say - Vigouroux, Happe and maybe DJ.

Who else would you add? You would struggle.

Ling
Judd
Widdowson
Coulson
Turley
Wright
Dayton
Angol (?)

If all of those are out of contract end of the season as I suspect they are replacements required all round. All of them need replacing with senior pros, no only getting 4 players in and filling other positions with academy players and short-term loans.

Turley would be the one I'd waver on but with age & injuries catching up would be a risky one but he is a good utility RB / CB cover player to have around.

In addition I can't see Happe staying either, the bright lights of bigger clubs will come knocking as his contact runs down. Perhaps even in January.
Angol definitely. How about JM-D? So inconsistent. Widdowson could get another year. Jobi might call it a day although he would be good a squad player.

Well to counter that argument.
Ling has been responsible for the club appointing two absolute disasters as managers.
It looks like this could be a third.
This has cost the club thousands in compensation.
As far as players go...........
The manager identifies them and the CEO signs them if affordable.
No way should the DOF choose the players. If he is going to do that, then he should be the manager.

JMD worth at least another year, he has talent there but needs to be utilised and managed in the right way. Jobi rolling year contract for as long as he feels he can keep contributing as his fitness and performance levels have been top notch.

Widdowson I'd say no, he's not getting any younger and may want a 2-year contract. Time to freshen up the LB position imo.

Agree with this. Our performances against struggling teams has been adequate, but we have yet to test the teams in the top half. Who in my opinion haven’t been shown as anything special. They just work harder and are better organised.

So you are OK with a CEO who has limited experience of players contracts in negotiating and finalizing legal documents with agents and players?

Well I wouldn't be and I have a fair amount experience of legal contracts but definitely not in football.

I would be amazed if a CEO signed off contracts without taking appropriate legal advice. No different from a DoF who may well have experience dealing with players but not qualified to understand all the finer legalities of a contract. Tricky ground. The club will have appropriate legal representation whoever negotiates with players.

Of course you would get a qualified solicitor to draw up the contract, but I would expect that is the case with Ling.
I can’t imagine Ling drawing up a legal document somehow.
By the way, didn’t Matt Porter deal with this before?
