I suppose paying off 12 months of a managers contract is better than paying off a couple of years contract which has happened many times at this and many other football clubs. So wonder what sort of salary R-oss would be on, at least £100,000 a year I guess ?
No way.
60 k plus bonuses.
Glad you’re not doing the contracts Sid.
I was earning 50K plus a year when I got made redundant from my job as a maintenance engineer in 2010. I worked for a large multinational Pharma company and I was 62 years old at the time. So I would have guessed that R-oss would earning at least around £8000 a month so £96,000 a year ? So only £5000 a month before stoppages ? Well perhaps you are right ?
You had years of experience and proven knowledge Sid, Ross has neither at the moment.
Even 60 k is a lot for someone with no track record, he wouldn’t get nowhere near that anywhere else.
I would imagine Ling is on 80k. Again it’s unlikely he would get that elsewhere as most clubs wouldn’t have a DOF. They would use that money to appoint a manager and let the CEO sort out contracts. A bit like Barry did.

years ago after one game on a saturday night the league table would be published in the evening news and standard really exciting
all this 15 games is bollocks
it just time for more excuses
Dross aint has stupid as some think , He will never get another manager or head coach job with another club
So the excuses to those across the pond will include, justin for last year, covid for this year, re building for next year, still learning for the year after, still learning for the year after ,still learning for the year after, still learning for the year after
That comment made me laugh !
''still learning for the year after, still learning for the year after ,still learning for the year after, still learning for the year after''
Ok in that case, perhaps R-oss should put a big learners ''L Plate'' on the back of his jacket..........and is Martin Ling his instructor ?

After busting my right knee at only 23 year old ( ACL injury ) I also ran my own football teams with great success and after that I became secretary of my firms 9 table tennis teams, all unpaid jobs for the love of the sport ! But at least my knee injury did not stop me playing in the local table tennis league. The number of League table tennis teams and football teams have declined so much in the area that I live in compared to when I was actively involved in those sports in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Much of that is down to so many large concerns, mainly factories where they had many teams in the local sports leagues, social club teams etc and also many pub football teams years ago, especially Sunday football teams. Many pubs closed since then and of those left, many have become more akin to Restaurants.

Didn’t someone on here say that ling was on £120k and their issue with that was it stopped us getting in a player or two? This was sometime ago.

I wouldn’t have thought Ling was on anywhere near that.
He would snap your hand off at 80 k, so why offer more?
I do beleive he has the remainder of season to play with and to demonstrate he has what it takes to deliver success next season. If he fails to show that then I would have thought that the owners would be asking searching questions of Mr Ling and his appointment. Then we’d only have a small proportion of his contract to pay up.
No matter what happens, we will have to pay the 12 months on his rolling contract, Rolling means he is on a 12 month rolling contract, he completes one month another is added on the end. so still 12 month to go

Nice work if you can get it Sid at that money, If I got the Head Honcho job Sid you can be my number 2

I said on here prior to the season 9th with 65 points, we are currently on track to accumulate 58 points which puts us I guess a few places lower. We are underperforming against what I thought and if the club was looking at the play off places then we are some way behind that target too.
If they were not looking at the playoff places, it shows their complete lack of ambition.
That is obvious by firstly appointing, then keeping, Dross.
Miss guided loyalty me thinks, maybe your mate has their ear more than you would like.

2 renund buisness men against an anonymous boarder who uses a made up advert character ?
I'll choose there decision over your opinion any day .
Ling did a very good job when he first came into the job when he helped rebuild the side in quick time by drafting in so many players in such a short time and also got an experienced manager in. The first manager Davis looked like he would be an ok appointment but unfortunately it did not work out, he struck lucky second time round with Justin who we all know did a great job. Since the tragic death of Justin we have managed to hold our place in Division 2 but are not really going anywhere. Surely time now to change things around come the end of the season.

I think the owners have Two choices.
They can sack Ross and probably Ling or they can offer support and guidance to the novice, and hope he improves.
I think they will do the latter.
I was all for giving RE some time but I just don't really see much progress. It seems that RE fails to learn and progress and you'd expect a novice to do. In fact at the start of any process you expect novices to learn quickly and the rate of progress to slow down as knowledge is acquired. That doesn't seem to have happened here.
We're still stuck with the same formation that pretty much everyone can see doesn't work on numerous levels. Stubborness is a worrying trait in the manager of failing side. He also doesn't come across as particularly inspiring. You could imagine players really wanting to produce for Slade or JE, I cant see that in Ross. I don't normally bother to listen to manager interviews but I've listened to a few of his and they're very dull.
On the positive side we seem to have some decent young players breaking through but I;m not sure how much credit RE can claim for this. Things need to improve and RE needs to demonstrate that he's learning and progressing. This needs to happen quickly. Although I suspect that with the club having very little income that RE is safe until the end of the season unless we look like going down.

I doubt we'll make the play offs so I think the best we can hope for is mid table . I think Boss will have a better chance of getting us into the play offs next season when he's gained more managerial experience .
With better players hopefully. Up to 8 may not get a new contract.

So we have a poor Head Coach so blame the players! Another one for the Embleton growing list of excuses.
According to Ling Snr we have a strong squad. According to Embleton we have strength in depth which gives him issues trying to keep everybody happy.
So are you suggesting Ling and Embleton are telling porkies.

Ling
Judd
Widdowson
Coulson
Turley
Wright
Dayton
Angol (?)
If all of those are out of contract end of the season as I suspect they are replacements required all round. All of them need replacing with senior pros, no only getting 4 players in and filling other positions with academy players and short-term loans.
Turley would be the one I'd waver on but with age & injuries catching up would be a risky one but he is a good utility RB / CB cover player to have around.
In addition I can't see Happe staying either, the bright lights of bigger clubs will come knocking as his contact runs down. Perhaps even in January.
