15 game mark
I saw from summary of the Q&A Ling starts to judge the season after 15 games, slight variation in the 10 game theme discussed on here.
With 3 games to play what would you predict for
- our league position
- Ling's analysis of how the season is going
- positions to strengthen in Jan

Re: 15 game mark
- 13th place
- 'About right' and a true, albeit galling to some, suggestion that if we iron out the inconsistencies we'd be in the playoffs
- Another centre forward in with Angol out, a young centre half loan and if Widdowson goes and gets an 18 month deal elsewhere maybe a left wing back/left back.

Re: 15 game mark
I think our league position is poor considering the level of backing and funding.
I think Ling will say that Ross is the best manager available and that he's learning on the job or a work in progress.
I wouldn't give Ling or Ross any money to strengthen in January as I feel that they're not doing a good enough job of things so far. I'd give them what they have at the moment until the end of December and if there's no improvement I would be hell bent on appointing the best manager available come that time. I wouldn't bother with another DoF.

Re: 15 game mark
Forgot to put my own in lol
- 16th (where we'll end the season)
- it's as expected in an unusual season, we need a strong end to the season + other tired clichés but we'll bring in a few loans to help bolster the squad
- another RB when Happe is sold and Akinola moves to CB. Striker if we get any further injuries

Re: 15 game mark
I said on here prior to the season 9th with 65 points, we are currently on track to accumulate 58 points which puts us I guess a few places lower. We are underperforming against what I thought and if the club was looking at the play off places then we are some way behind that target too.

Re: 15 game mark
I do beleive he has the remainder of season to play with and to demonstrate he has what it takes to deliver success next season. If he fails to show that then I would have thought that the owners would be asking searching questions of Mr Ling and his appointment. Then we’d only have a small proportion of his contract to pay up.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:31 pm They’ll be happy with it this year. I thought Embleton had a 12; month rolling contract, which means he gets 12 months money whenever he is asked to go.Thor wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:34 pmI do beleive he has the remainder of season to play with and to demonstrate he has what it takes to deliver success next season. Can’t see us doing anything on Jan unless we keep sliding down the league and there’s a chance we get into a relegation battle. Grim really

I doubt we'll make the play offs so I think the best we can hope for is mid table . I think Ross will have a better chance of getting us into the play offs next season when he's gained more managerial experience .Thor wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:24 pm I said on here prior to the season 9th with 65 points, we are currently on track to accumulate 58 points which puts us I guess a few places lower. I read something like that myself. Perhaps I am wrong but if R-oss loses his job as head coach at this club then no fallback for him to go back to coaching here and i would guess that he will have to look elsewhere for another job but he will have a years wages to help him pay his bills till he gets something else, even it is coaching Youth teams.

How do other Football Managers get on when new to the job, they just get on with it and if they do not hit the ground running , then they are on their way. How many more seasons of gaining ''more managerial experience'' can he be given ?RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:52 pmI doubt we'll make the play offs so I think the best we can hope for is mid table . Re: 15 game mark
I'd be really interested in his view after 15 games. Hopefully we'll get to hear his thoughts (or if not I'm sure we'll get an indication from senior management).gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:07 pm I saw from summary of the Q&A Ling starts to judge the season after 15 games, slight variation in the 10 game theme discussed on here.

Think we will be around where we are after 15 games given the opposition.
Positions to strengthen in January - improvements on as many of the average players who will be out of contract next summer as is realistic. Chance to phase them in over time for next season and look to move on the likes of Dennis, Coulson, Ling, Widdowson, Turley and Wright.

Re: 15 game mark
The should let him get more ‘managerial experience’ elsewhere and put him in Leyton Orient’s ‘Infamous Revolving Door‘ now! Hopefully he will end up at the exit.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 7:02 pmHow do other Football Managers get on when new to the job, they just get on with it and if they do not hit the ground running , then they are on their way. No matter what happens, we will have to pay the 12 months on his rolling contract, Rolling means he is on a 12 month rolling contract, he completes one month another is added on the end. so still 12 month to goThor wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:34 pmI do beleive he has the remainder of season to play with and to demonstrate he has what it takes to deliver success next season. If they were not looking at the playoff places, it shows their complete lack of ambition.Thor wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:24 pm I said on here prior to the season 9th with 65 points, we are currently on track to accumulate 58 points which puts us I guess a few places lower. That is obvious by firstly appointing, then keeping, Dross.

Re: 15 game mark
I suppose paying off 12 months of a managers contract is better than paying off a couple of years contract which has happened many times at this and many other football clubs. So wonder what sort of salary R-oss would be on, at least £100,000 a year I guess ?J R Hartley wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 7:21 pmNo matter what happens, we will have to pay the 12 months on his rolling contract, Rolling means he is on a 12 month rolling contract, he completes one month another is added on the end. so still 12 month to goThor wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:34 pmI do beleive he has the remainder of season to play with and to demonstrate he has what it takes to deliver success next season. Re: 15 game mark
Ling's the one on big money. Though I'm not sure how his contract is structured. The difficulty is that he's feathered his nest so extensively that it will be expensive to get them all out. I suppose some of the ex-players (Lawless, Harrold etc) might be worth giving a go under a new regime, and obviously Senda hasn't been given a chance yet, but the Academy needs a proper re-boot, and anyone with the surname Embleton needs to be kept away from the Club in perpetuity.

Re: 15 game mark
I was earning 50K plus a year when I got made redundant from my job as a maintenance engineer in 2010. I worked for a large multinational Pharma company and I was 62 years old at the time. So I would have guessed that R-oss would earning at least around £8000 a month so that would be around £96,000 a year. Perhaps you and others are correct when you say around £60,000 a year, so £5000 a month before stoppages, well who knows but not that wonderful money is it for the responsibility entailed !Cavalier wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 8:32 pmNo way.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 8:28 pmI suppose paying off 12 months of a managers contract is better than paying off a couple of years contract which has happened many times at this and many other football clubs. Re: 15 game mark
I have a feeling that bottom half of the table mediocrity will be enough to get Embleton at least another year.
To be honest, I reckon it would take a serious relegation battle for his position to be questioned by those at the top.
