Re: need a rest
Nonsensical logic.
My job involves sitting on my arse at a computer in a safe environment. Does this mean that I can’t ever need time off because somewhere in the world somebody is saving lives as an A+E doctor?

Mullins and Ironside are scoring for fun at Cambridge
and yet with a young inexperienced manager I don’t
see either of them being rested at present ...

Germany & Japan both swear by it
Both lost the 2nd world war & yet
Are remarkably further ahead in the
World than here .
Maybe it is time to learn a few things from losing .

Re: need a rest
Players never want to rest, they want to play every game they can, it’s the managers who decide otherwise. It’s rare for a player to say hey boss I need a rest cos I fancy letting him take my place in the team, it just don’t happen.

Of course every player wants to play, for one it puts them in the shop window to move to a bigger club.

Re: need a rest
Didn’t forest win the league title with something like 14 players and Liverpool with 13 or something crazy like that?

Why didn’t you rest him for the whole of the pointless game against Charlton ? It’s just a cop out for getting it wrong ! He’s way out his depth end of!

Re: need a rest
Leeds under Revie picked the same team for about 5 years in the late 60s early 70s.
Played over 60 games a season on crap pitches.

Better pitches, softer balls hardly any physical contact.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 10:36 pmYes, cos the modern game is exactly the same as it was back in the 70s.
Better transport links.
42 league games a season.
No penalty shoot outs in the Fa cup.
1 substitute.
Seems like a tougher time to me.
Still, people were tougher in general.

An average L2 player of today would piss all over a top flight player of 50 years ago. There’s no comparison.
You could go out on the piss 5 nights a week and still win a World Cup in the 60s or 70s. Things have moved on.
