Re: U.S Election
It's funny. I don't care who they elect, so long as the entertainment value remains high.

Re: U.S Election
Bookies in Oz are saying 90% of the betting is on Trump despite Biden being a clear favourite. Is this a case of a fool and his money, or the bookies having it wrong? Will be exciting to find out tomorrow.

Re: U.S Election
An amusing aside: if Brits could vote, they’d go 3:1 Biden:Trumpy - with every constituency kicking out the Orange One.

Re: U.S Election
I'm calling a Trump win. He looks like taking Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, which will get him over the line. North Carolina could swing it to Biden as they still have 130,000 postal votes to count and have to wait up to the 12th November for them to come in, with Trump 80,000 ahead, but a bit of a long shot.
The polling companies need to be shut down, another disaster for them.

Re: U.S Election
The polling wasn't really wrong in some cases in 2016, it predicted more votes for Clinton.
He's taking Texas, Florida and North Carolina but I'm not sure about Georgia (now), Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Plus Arizona.

Re: U.S Election
Think I'll be backtracking on this. NY Times calling Georgia leaning to Biden now and Wisconsin swing on votes counted so far would give it to Biden.Adz wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 5:36 am I'm calling a Trump win. Interesting stuff whatever happens.
Re: U.S Election
When I went to bed Trump was 3.15 (just > 2/1) and Biden 1.49 (just about 1/2) on Betfair. That is now completely reversed.
As Andrew Neil said, this election is a "dripping roast" for lawyers.

I still stand by this post on page 1.Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 1:00 pm The Democrats are running an awful campaign so far.
I’ve watched a few of the speakers at the DNC, and most seem to follow the following pattern:
1. Trump is an awful man because [reasons].
2. Therefore, you must vote like your “life depends on it.”
3. America is broken because it’s “systematically racist”.
4. America is amazing, because you’re all wonderful too.
5. But we’re not divisive, oh no. We’re unifying. And better. Because we have… erm, empathy. Yeah, that’s it, empathy.
6. Oh, and by the way, Joe Biden for President. I thought I’d better mention his name at some point.
If I was a swing voter in the US, I’d not have a f*cking clue about a single thing the Democrats would do should they win power. They’re not asking for voters to necessarily vote for anything, only against something. And as a strategy, whenever it has been used previously, it has always been unsuccessful.
What a horribly vacuous and divisive campaign so far. Biden has managed to keep ahead in the polls, but only because he has been absent so far. If they lose this election it will be thoroughly deserved.
The polls look like being wrong again. Even if they still manage to sneak a win, the Dems have run an awful campaign. Regardless of what we may think of Trump, they do not deserve anything.
